D&D 3E/3.5 Will you still play 3.5?

"Fantasy" is my favorite RPG setting, but 3.0/3.5 sucked out a lot of the fun for me. I've actually taken a break from playing any RPGs for about a year now. Once 4E comes out I plan on jumping in again because I like what I've seen so far.

My only problem is I'd like to get rid of my 3.0/3.5 books some other way than just sitting in the basement, like my 1st/2nd Edition WoD stuff.

None of my group want to switch to 4E, and I'm the only one who wants to try the demo, so I suspect we won't switch for at least another year or two.

THIS IS A THREAD THAT STARTS WITH THE QUESTION "FOR THOSE OF YOU MAKING THE SWITCH..." THIS IS NOT A POLL OF PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT MAKING THE SWITCH.

So someone who has said that they'll incorporate the ideas that they like into their old edition games isn't making a switch? Is this thread so exclusive that only those who have fully embraced 4.0 may post? It's great that such open discussion is encouraged in such nonjudgmental ways! :D

Ok - eassssing the thread down a notch here...

I plan on finishing up our current campaign. It's likely to stay 3.5e rather than converting, but that is not set in stone. When the campaign finishes up at some undetermined date, I will run a 4e campaign. Following the 4e campaign I will ask my group which rules they prefer. If they vote for 4e I will likely sell my 3.5 books.

Heck no! Well, not if I have a choice. I'm in a few PbP games, and I've no idea which will convert and which won't. I'm not going to drop one because it stays 3.5, after all. But I'm sure not going to join any new 3.5 games.

I have the 4E books already preordered, but my group and I won't be adapting our current game to the new system at the moment. We will have to give it some time, and a couple of really good read-throughs, before we will be able to justify switching. I imagine we will someday, though.

Mistwell, stop it. You're sounding to me like a little kid. You asked peoples' opinions, people are offering them, and while not everyone is in favor of 4e I haven't yet read anyone going off on a "4e is teh devil!" rant or treating the topic with disrespect. So relax, please, or I'll close the thread.

EDIT: Hey, I've just realized you didn't even start this thread! Don't post in it any more. We have little patience for rudeness or vigilante moderation.

Get rid of books!?!? I'm a packrat, that won't happen. The only way I see myself playing 3.5 is if it's in Ptolus and I haven't bothered running Ptolus in Arcana Evolved.

Why would anybody ever get rid of perfectly good D&D books? Even if you're not using the mechanics, they have tons of good ideas. That's why I still have my old 1st edition books, and all the old Dragon Magazines on CD-ROM.

I might still buy some 3.5 material, but I haven't run 3.5 since Arcana Evolved came out. It's been Iron Heroes, Evolved, True 20, Saga, or Weapons of the Gods since 2005.
