I agree, a poetry contest would be awesome!

Can't say if it's your first, as I don't read regularly enough. 
Okay. . . here's another summary
Contests:
Poetry - we need 3 judges and have 1 volunteer so far (thanks, Nich!). We'll start a thread for all entrants to post, so that all the entries are in the same place (would the Thorntree be the appropriate place for that?)
Room Description - do we want this to be collaberative, or a contest? That, of course, would have to take place before the dance, so the description is in place.
If we do collaberative, I'd like the description to first be seen by everyone when they actually go to the dance. If it's a contest, we can handle it somewhat like the poetry contest. Who, besides me, has a room description idea? What would you prefer to do? Ruthia, I know you've commented - do you have a dessy in mind?
Gabe - ummm. . beer and cookies if you can set up the description to automatically show upon entrance? Please?
Date and time. We've had a request for a weekend night, and late January. So. . . The 26th or 27th? And time - night is at different times for some of us, since we're so scattered (the wonder of the internet! I love it!). So, how about folks let us know what times are good for them - and set the discussion in one specific time zone (I'm not in Eastern, but, it seems popular for discussions, I *think* that's GMT - 5).

Well, I waited a few days to give folks a chance to reply and put in their ideas and requests.
Then, when there were no responses, I began wondering if everyone does want a Winter Ball. Or is everyone just busy?
It's late to try to have this in January, but, if everyone's wanting a winter ball, we could shoot for February.
Does Oerth have an equivilent to Valentine's Day? Does Faerun?
Or maybe something in TMP, pending approval from Brigid, Gabe ? Sorry, I mean no insult - who would answer that?

Yeah. College had me stuck to the wall for a while there. Valentines for the TMP would be a lovely idea. Fluffy chairs in the shape of hearts... exchanging Valentines to friends... selling roses or carnations for a buck... dishes on the bar full of little romantic chocolates... Oh! Do what the highschool's do, nominate a King and Queen of Hearts or something and announce the winner that night. Give them dorky lil' crowns and simple robes 'n stuff. ^_^ And they get a daaance and get to be embarrassed when their friends cat call them from the side... ahh.. good ol' days. Red strobe light is a must. Oh! And balloons that fall from the roof at some big announcement, like the King and Queen thinger. Or how about something really cheesie, like a competition for the best kisser. Gabe can be the judge, mwahaha.
