Winter Ball of some sort?

*Watches her carefully thought out description fly away like a balloon with a hole punched in it, to be replaced by froo-froo fluffy pink and red* *Wimper and hide* ;)
Whatever everyone wants - as long as we have permission.

Well, I don't play modern, I don't see the point, but still I have this small idea.
Maybe some players can gather a handful of chars and play a live band? They could play covers, or maybe their own songs, or both?

Here we have no valentine's day or anything like that whatsoever, but, ain't it live bands in such parties everywhere?

Also, a Bard band could play in the CrossRoads. Sounds kind of silly, I know. That's why I like it :p

Mmm.. Have we ever done a TMP party? Beside the event with the Dunk tank and the fighting challenge which took place ages ago and back on the other site.

I do like the idea of a TMP eventy/dance.. although I abhor the idea of things pink and fluffy.

Can we do something, without making it enough to have a girl vomit from too much kyuuuteness?

Edit: I have an idea, I will type it up and submit it here for everyone to view. Granted it's only a few days, but if anyone comments on liking it I'll email it off for Magi approval by February 1.

A Love for All Time..

Yeah yeah.. Double Posty..

A Love for All Time-

This dance can take place in any room and in any setting, depending on which people like.

Theme-

A Love for All Time. Couples attend the dance dressed up in costumes of famous couples throughout history. Single people can come dressed as someone they love, admire.

In the TMP examples would be such things as Romeo and Juliet, or Anthony and Cleopatra.

In Fantasy examples would be such things as Huma Dragonbane and Gwynneth, or Raistlin and Crysania (I know.. I know.. I’m a Dragonlance dork.)

TMP: The Popular Night Club is decorated for the Holiday in a festive display. The bouncer at the door tips his hat, and with a grin offers if you’d like to buy that special someone a flower.

Tasteful red and gold hanging lanterns give the room a softer glow than usual, and strings of twinkling lights are strung over the bar and dance floor. Festoons of velvety ribbon are tied across the ends of the bar and tables, a rich and deep red coloration that adds to the atmosphere. The shades of dark crimson and burnished gold garlands decorate the area, celebrating a lover’s holiday.

Small bowls of chocolates and candies are arranged along the bar and tabletops, and it seems that all the drinks served by Sam are in some varying shade of red or pink.

A collection of soft songs and ballads plays on the air, and perhaps still a band or DJ might step forward to grant those requests to those who are meeting one another on this night.

Fantasy: The area is decorated to celebrate the union of lover’s in the cycle of moons and life. Shades of dark rosey pink and silver decorate the area, creating a land of splendid enchantments.

Rose petals are strewn along the ground, sprinkled freely about. Fountains of soft light spring forth, created to produce a trickling of magical lights that shade the area. Tables and chairs are arranged, settled to the side of the dance area, and covered with more rose petals.

To the back are several tables, laden with treats and delicacies along with all manner of beverages to drink.

Stringed instruments play softly, but should any bard or musician be ready to play the effect would dispel so that the live performance would take a central role.

Nice Don, I like it a lot! Course if it is in TMP that means I'd have to bring back my only TMP character...hmmm...... Still, nice dessy's Dontella.

The idea of a band is good, I like that.
Love the descriptions, Dontella! The costume idea has a major draw back: if it's not TMP, then quite a lot of us (myself included) would have *no idea* of a famous couple to dress as. The examples you mentioned were Krynn, and, while there are some characters that come in who hail from Krynn, the settings are Oerth or Faerun. I know that some of us may have read enough of the Greyhawk and Forgotten Realm novels to know some famous couples. I mean, we wouldn't use the settings if noone read them, right?
But, from folks I've talked to (and with the thread about how everyone came to ISRP), I get the impression that reading the books based in the settings we play is not a prerequist.
Besides, we almost always have costume/masquarade of some sort. How about just a nice, elegant evening?

And, I do believe we had a St Patrick's day thing in TMP at some point. Though, that might have been the dunking thing already mentioned.

Shall we still do the poetry contest? We only have one judge so far.

I confess, I'd really like to see a TMP event.

Maybe, powers willing, we could get both pulled off?

Run one on Valentine's Day(ish) with TMP characters and setting, and then the second a week or two later for fantasy setting? That way we provide something for several player bases.

Good point on the historial fantasy couples. Shift that to elegant evening wear, and a fantasy poetry contest. Then each evening has something special.

Costumes in the TMP.

Poetry in Fantasy.

Edit: Anyhow, Ideas and Suggestion are great. But I still want to get this editted and sent off to the Magi email address by the First of the month.. that way it's at least the two weeks time to work on getting it approved for play.

Hehe, James could play at the TMP event. Nothing more romantic than a Lounge Singer... and, Jared could play in a fantasy event! So long as it's on a weekend.

Okay, Dates?

Valentines Day is on a Wednesday. Would people be okay with moving it to the 17th or 18th? Which is the first weekend after Valentine's Day... at least for TMP folks.

For Fantasy.. the week after, 24th or 25th?
