D&D 5E (2024) Wisdom Baded Eldritch Knigh Update.

Zardnaar

Legend
As the title says. Basically I want better saves.

Feats

Race Human or Elf (true strike elf or Magic initiate: wizard).

Origin. Guide (Magic Initiate Druid shillelagh+guidance)
Feats. Lvl 1-8
Warcaster
Fae Touched (hex)
Resilient; Wisdom
Duelist, weapon master prone+ranged one of your choice.

All EK spells are not attack roll based. Eg shield, jump etc.

Base damage. 1d10+7 force+1d6 necrotic,+ 1d6 radiant 1/round (+ action surge..

Warcaster didn't really needed if the DMs not to hard on VSM parts. Is for the S part, staff is your arcane focus.

Playtest one has +1 shield ad this weapon from BG3.

I like these types of weapons vs vicious or flametongues.

I don't like Resilient Wisdom on this build when you get Indomitable one level later. You also do more damage than that at round 7 and 8 because you are getting Truestrike Plus an attack with each action.

There is also a good two-weapon fighting build in there using a club and scimitar.

With Warmagic you would truestrike with a scimitar, attack with your shillelagh club, nick with your scimitar. With Hex that would be a significant damage boost over a shillelagh and board. Your nick attack would be with strength so with a 16 and Hex you are looking at: 7d6+1d10+11 at level 7 with an 18 Wisdom and 16 Strength.

Not knocking stuff prone. Also not doing a most damage build.

Club works but slows not that great for a melee character imho.

Dual wielder I would prefer vex and a familiar: owl.

Forgot the spell list.

Druid spells.
Cure
Shillelagh
Guidance

Wizard Spells

True strike
Mind sliver
Tashas hideous laughter

EK Spells.

Jump
Shield
Find Familiar
Death Armor
Mirror Image

Other spells.
Hex (1/day snd prepared)
Misty step (1/day and prepared).

That to.

Preliminary testing level I used death armor and mirror image as EK lvl 2 spells.

If you are using Death Armor you should definitely go with Two weapon fighting or a Two-Handed weapon.

Having the screaming high AC from sword and board + shield will work against Death Armor and make it less effective. With sword and board Mirror Image is the better 2nd level spell IMO and pretty much always the play.

Yeah kinda realized that after testing. We want to put death armor on a raging barbarian.

I wanted to see how much damage I could do using sword and board.

Not knocking stuff prone. Also not doing a most damage build.

Using a club and a second weapon (third attack) with Warmagic and Shillelagh and Hex will outdamage using a staff by quite a bit, even without knocking enemies prone. You are getting the same attack damage as you get with a staff and then getting one more attack on top of that.

I think you are forgetting that you have Hex in this build. Finally you can go dual wielder at level 8 and get a 4th attack as a bonus action with your shillelagh club. That would be 3 Shillelaghs plus a scimitar. This does get bonus action starved, but I think it will outdamage all the other builds both in the white room and in play.

I would agree that slow is not that great, but you can get stuff on your missile weapons - get nick with a dagger and push with a Heavy Crossbow in addition to your nick scimitar and you are pretty darn good at ranged attacks too. Later on add SAP from a spear.

If you are really dead set on topple, grab a Trident and start out by using it and toppling with Truestrike and then switching to your Shillelagh Club-Scimitar combo for your 2nd and 3rd (and 4th?) attack.

Dual wielder I would prefer vex and a familiar: owl.

A club with shillelagh and a nick Scimitar is going to outdamage a Vex-nick build.

I mean a Shillelagh is 1d10 at 5th level and uses Wisdom on both attacks you make with it, a short sword or hand axe is 1d6 and doesn't use Wisdom for the attack. Vex on 1 or 2 attacks does not make up for that IMO.

Consider Starry Wisp too. You can't use it with Warmagic but it is great at making invisible enemies NOT invisible.

Wizard Spells

True strike
Mind sliver

If you are taking a combat cantrip I like Balde Ward over Mind Sliver for using with War Magic, especially on a sword and board build.
