Wiz/ Assassin spell questions?

My Elven Rog 5 / Asn 3 is now deciding to take lvls into wizardry as his pilferings/ treasure is mostly scrolls. And by that line of thinking, if he was a wizard ... he could identify the scrolls a lot easier.

How would one set up taking mage lvls after lvl 1? Should i just be allowed to take Wiz lvl's as my Assassin class has arcane spells? Should i need to find a teacher? and for how long does he need to teach? Or my rogusih inclined behavior is enough to decepher how to 'improvise' the learning aspect and just become a wizard.

What happens now that i have 2 arcane spell list? one wiz and one assassin. Does my caster lvl increase from 3 to 4? (Asn lvls + Wiz lvls)

Also what would be some decent spells to have in this char? I was thinking of some Sneak attack dmg spells, Charm Person, Disquise Self, Obscurring Mist, True Strike, Invis, etc

Training and time are up to the DM. If you take a level of wizard you will have known spells for Assassin and for Wizard, they are seperate. You will be a caster of assassin 3 and wizard 1, they will not stack.

You have two lists, they don't stack.

Frankly, the best idea is to further improve your Assassin and/or Rogue levels, and learn Decipher Script/Use Magic Device for the scrolls.
