That would make them either immune to weapon damage, or only suffer half damage from weapons... the tool of choice for slaying grain would be Fireball!

Sure, but it takes a long time to kill an entire swarm (field) of wheat. So half damage kinda makes sense.

i think i'll be into writing "Complete Agricultural".
introducing new farming-feats such as "reap'em all" and "rise early" , "crop-killer" and "extreme cattle-herder" PrCs and spells such as "dire seeds" , "leomund's instant barn" or "force fence"
also: a thousand new uses for "phantom plow" and "repel vermin"

I say go with the Heavy Pick. Like the sythe it has a x4 critical for really giving it to the helpless, but it is smaller and only needs one hand.
