Anthradusk is coming.

Anthradusk, the adult blue dragon featured in Dragon Delves, is coming to the tabletop. WizKids has announced plans to produce an 8-inch tall figure of the unique Blue Dragon, with a planned release date of December 2025. The blue dragon comes equipped with a unique pendulum blade attached to its tail, as well as its signature lightning weapon. The blue dragon also bears scars from a recent fight with a brass dragon, a battle which it emerged victorious from. The figure currently has no retail price listed, but similar dragon figures cost $79.99.

Anthradusk serves as the antagonist of Dragon Delves' final adventure, which means that its the "final boss" for those looking to convert Dragon Delves into a full-length campaign. The dragon is attempting to use a brass dragon egg to resurrect several ancient blue dragons to subjugate a desert region.

Additional looks at the dragon figure can be seen below:

I’m torn on this one. I like the overall sculpt a lot more than typical 5e blue dragons, which I think look goofy with their massive nose spike and goatee-like chin. But I strongly dislike dragons wearing equipment. Anyway, I could back a whole kickstarter’s worth of miniatures for that price, so it’s a moot point.
They often will offer a cheaper non=painted version. I think I may wait for that one.

I also dislike dragons wearing equipment, but I think I could remove them and be happy with the result. I really like this blue. I made add the ears back too.

- pre 3E, they didn't really have a unified look and Elmore's depiction vs. Parkinson's vs. Easley vs. Sutherland's were often quite different - and I was okay with that.
That is not entirely true. There were 3 distinct options you could see in D&D art:
  1. Dragon designs that generally followed the 1e MM / 2e MC. Dragons "in" official D&D products (modules, supplements, etc.) often (but not always) followed the general design (with artistic differences) of the MM dragons.
  2. Dragonlance dragons. These had a specifically different and, at least initially, internally consistent design. So an elmore dragonlance red generally looked like a easley dragonlance red, etc.
  3. Covers and Dragon magazine. Covers and dragon mag often had dragons of any shape / design the artist saw fit to create. This bled into official products too.
Example of #2:

Dragonlance Red: Notice the two horns, ears, cheek frills, and double row of dorsal spines in both the elmore red and easley red. These were dragon lance red dragon features.

Dragonlance BLue: notice the distinctive neck/chest scales, two horns, two fangs, ears, and "beard" of the blue dragon by Keith, Larry, and Clyde (you can also see how Takhisis follows all of these in Clyde's painting)

Dragonlance Green Dragon: nasal horn, short head horns, and head "sail" in both Caldwell and Easley:

Dragonlance Black Dragon: 2 forward point proboscis "horns," large rear-point head horns, and neck frill in both Caldwell and Elmore's versions.

Dragonlance White Dragon: Notice the crown of 5 horns and hairy nape in both the elmore and caldwell

Both red dragons, not even remotely close.
Sure, those fall into group #3 that I mentioned. My only point was there was not a complete lack of consistency in D&D dragons during the TSR era (as some people suggest). Many images did follow the design of the MM dragons after the MM was published. Many did not too.

Also, the easley red dragon you posted is very similar to the MM red dragon standard. It has all of the distinguishing features: a single row of neck/back spikes, no horns, and a cheek "frill". In fact, I would call it one of the best 1e MM red dragon versions ever.

I mean the image you posted is same design as the MM, just made by a better artist.

I'll probably wait until it sits on the shelf of my local game store for a while and they put it on sale.
Supporting local store is obviously the move (assuming you LIKE your local store), but Wizkids was regularly having sales of up to 50% off on their own site. They were legit undercutting the low-cost sites and ebay sellers.. and not just on old stuff.

If you pre-ordered them at the same time, then it probably won't ship until both have been released. The black has been out for a couple months but the red is due to be released in July.
Maybe that is it - though I don't remember if that was the case or not. They were definitely ordered close to the same time if not the same time.

Pretty disappointed this is Ancient sized instead of Adult. I was looking forward to building a full set of the new designs as they released, but I don’t want the set to be in mismatched size categories. And Adult is a more versatile size, you can fudge it down to Young or up to Ancient and more or less get away with it, whereas an Ancient mini would never pass for a Young dragon.
