Wolverine type char

A discussion in Houserules about Fast Healing at level 1 considered some optional feats to provide the regeneration.

I'm not too interested in that point here, I just would like to know:
How would you build Wolverine?

I'm especially interested in the choice of classes, feats, weapons/claws and armor. And whether someone has a better idea than dragon shaman to get at least some Fast Healing.

Priorities to me:
- Some self healing ability ASAP.
- TWF or several attacks with natural weapons.
- Stylish attack options.

There was a storyhour here some years ago where someone build a fighter with armblades... so it doesn't have to be a real Wolverine with barbaric behavior and regeneration.

One of the major things I would pick is Sphinx Claws from Magic of Incarnum. Even the picture of the guy using the Sphix Claw soulmeld looks similiar to Wolverine. I think you can get them with just a level or two of Totemist.

As far as healing, there are a couple of options I would go with. Unfortunately, none of which are as effective as Fast Healing 1.

1) Go Warblade and pick a lot of maneuvers from Tiger Claw. Use Martial Study feat to pick up the healing strike maneuvers from Devoted Spirit discipline.
2) Go Crusader, and pick TWF feats.
3) Dip a few levels in Dragon Shaman to get fast healing aura, but that will only heal you to half HPs at best. Still better than nothing.

I also found this.. Other ways to get Fast Healing; Sangehirn 5 (WotC Minds Eye), Shadow Template (MotP), Warshaper 4 & Nature's Warrior x (while in another shape)(CW), Soldier of Light 7 (D&D), Wild Reaper 16 (DrMg 311)

The Combat Focus feats are another way to get Fast Healing... sadly only at higher levels.

Magic of Incarnum: Thanks, I'll take a look at it.

Not sure how far afield you're willing to go for inspiration but the Totem Warrior class in Arcana Evolved has a wolverine totem warrior that gets wolvie-style claws at level one. Might be worth a dip just for that if your DM will allow it.

Soul Knife (blades, don't necessarily have to glow) + Dragon Shaman (fast healing) + Barbarian (rage) + Ranger (TWF)

You don't need to Fast Heal to full, because if you have a high Con, your half-total is still a helluva lot higher than some PCs' full.

Soul knife is a nice idea... I had totally forgotten about that class!

Fast Healing can be obtained by the warshaper class. I think that a Barbarian/Bear Warrior/Warshaper/Frenzied Berserker type of combination would capture Wolverine rather nicely. It wouldn't get the exact superhero picture but the basics would be right. Deathless Frenzy plus Fast Healing 2 would be a real pain.

If you dig around the Character Optimization boards at wizards.com you will find a Wolverine clone character build which looks amazingly effective. Unfortunately, I read it quite a while ago and do not have a link for you.

Ohhh. Evil. All he needs is some way to prolong the duration of his frenzy. :D

Another player in one of our games played a wolverine character. We were playing with Arcana Unearthed. I believe it was an unfettered using magical claws (claws are listed in AU under exotic weapons I believe). I think he was looking to get fast healing...
