There are 2 things that should never be animated in movies-pets and babies. They always look bad. This is a good example, and so is the baby in the trailer for the Mask 2.
 


Honestly, I don't think the Garfield animation looks that bad. I am still very confused about a CGI cat and a real dog, though.

My biggest issue with animation like this is when they film an animal/baby/whatever and then animate it to do something unnatural, like dance, jump around, sing, walk on its hind legs, etc. It always looks fake, but they keep right on doing it.
