Working for the Baron - The Adventure

Day 1 - On the way to Goodland

You head out from Mirlstone, heading east the way the Baron told you to. It is nearing nightfall when you suddenly hear a shout from ahead. You see three ugly creatures waiting up ahead. "You mans. Stop. This is robbery. Entering Rexxar place." Obviously not wanting to talk, they draw their weapons and grins at you.

You are on the road, heading east. The group of Orcs are about 40 ft. farther up the road. weapons drawn and ready for you.

Zyrial

The Elven cleric calmly gets off his mount and casts Bless. "Well Balin it seems that Orcs have not changed in the time we have not been traveling. They still telegraph thier intentions enough that we can use ranged weapons to kill them before they can get to us."

Casts Bless (Note I never chose his spells for the day. will do so in the OOC)

Balin the Elder

Balin carefully slid down from the mule he had purchased and squinted slightly at the three figures waiting for them ahead. Drawing a wand even as Zyrial spoke of the lack of evolution in the orcs, he nodded simply as he answered.

"Aye, let us hope they have not started breeding in the sterner stock of their ogre cousins though."

Aiming the slender wand at the lead orc, Balin whispered the trigger word and sent a single azure magic bolt streaking towards the creature.

Let us see what they are made of.

OOC:[sblock]Using Wand of Magic Missle and purchased mule and 1gp of misc herbs for the trip.[/sblock]

Hargrim, Dwarf Rog3/Ftr1

Hargrim smoothly dismounts and advances toward the nearest orc, drawing his twin handaxes as he moves. "I love orcs," he says loudly in Orcish. "Especially the sound they make when my axes cleave their skulls."

OOC:
[sblock]Dismounts as move-equivalent action; moves 20 ft. toward nearest orc as standard action; draws handaxes as free action during move.

HP: 32
AC: 18
Atk: +1 handaxe and masterwork handaxe +4/+4 (1d6+3/1d6+2 20/x3)[/sblock]

Waylaid on the road - Round 1

As Hargrim dismounts and taunts the orcs, Zyrial calmly bless the party for the coming fight. Just about the same time Balin waves his wand and a ball of pure force strikes towards the orc who spoke up. Magic missile did 2+1, for a total of 3 damage to orc 1.

Grunting from the impact, the lead orc eyes the party menacingly, growls and charge at Hargrim. As the orc close with the sturdy dwarf, its sword connects heavily with Hargrims forehead - it thinks. Just at the last second Hargrim sidesteps and avoids the blow, and the orc grolws in frustration.
Only a few seconds later the two remaining orcs close to melee with the dwarf, flanking it from both sides, Hargrim is now almost surrounded by smelly, ugly orcs. They both jab their swords at vital spots trying to penetrate the dwarf, but both are unsuccessful. One orc nearly stumbles with its attack as the others swordblow deflects of the dwarfs chain shirt. Orc 1 charged at Hargrim, but misses. The two remaining orcs each flank Hargrim, they also miss.

At this point of the battle it is obvious these are a puny bunch of orcs. Why would three orcs attack a party of four, when they're so obviously overmanned?
The answer comes but a split second later, when six more orcs, three to each side of the road, rise from cover and grins menacingly at the party. They were hiding in some bushes about thirty feet away from the road, and are now ready to join the fray. One orc on each side carries bows, the other four morningstars and axes.

[sblock]The six remaining orcs join the battle in round 2, added their "joining" for flavor reasons now. Also, dont worry about posting in the right innitiative, I usually dont do battles round by round in PbP, but try to get it rolling like a continous battle. [/sblock]

Guess its my turn now, Alton dismounts and flees from the fight, hidding in the brushes close by, waiting for the right moment to sneak attack on the one left side of the dwarf. So im gonna use my Hide which is a 10. And next turn sneak attack the dwarf from the bushes, 2d6.

I hope you mean you'll sneak attack the ORC NEXT TO the dwarf. If not...well, Alton better hope he kills Hargrim with that sneak attack... ;)

Balin the Elder, Abjur (4)

Balin spit on the ground as the rest of the orcish pack appeared to their sides, and while Zyr might have been impressed, Balin personally found nothing impressive in animals hunting like animals.

Yet we walked into their trap with eyes shut and nose closed.

As he pulled a pinch of soft web from his pouch, Balin's mind raced as he thought of where to place the magical web. Either side held dangers for their group, especially with that youngling racing off into the grass like a half mad garter snake, but he knew that he had to act quickly.

Speaking quickly as he willed the Silver Song's essence to come to his calling, Balin felt the spider's web vanish from between his fingers as it began to form on the orcs closest to him.

Let us see how they like my snares...

OOC:[sblock]Cast Web on orcs 4, 5, 6.[/sblock]

"Take out the archers!!" Hargrim bellows to Balin as he swings his axes at the orc who charged him.

OOC:
[sblock]Hargrim, using Two-Weapon Fighting, aims one attack at the orc who charged him. If he doesn't kill the orc with that attack, he uses his second attack to try to finish him off; otherwise, he aims his second attack at one of the other adjacent orcs.
