World of Warcraft Collectible Minis Game announced

That might be worthwhile, if it is reasonably priced and the secondary market allows for some inexpensive pickups of grunts.

Or is D&D turning into WoW?? 4E is coming out soon, y'know....

No matter the scale I'll probably pick some up to use as new game minis. I have done the same with Dreamblade, Heroscape, Mage Knight, and others. I adjust to use them accordingly.

They're merging. Dungeons of Warcraft (or perhaps, World of Dragons) here we come!

Depending on how they look, I may get some for use in my D&D campaign. Based on the 1 mini shown in that article, the minis may be a little too "out there" for my tastes. I have no plans to play the WoW miniature game though. I have a lot of D&D minis and I've still only played a handful of DDM games.

Yeah, I use rebased Heroscape, Mage Knight and even some Dreamblade figures in my games. The example WoW mini shown is too extreme for my games, but hopefully the scale will be close and some of the figures (at least) will be suitable. I love throwing minis my players have never seen before at them.

That example looks like it would make a good orc end boss for a game. I might consider picking up a few if they were non-random and non-collectable. I got burned on DDM after buying 12 giants of legend boosters and getting seven Fiendish t-rexes.

I'm sure that you'll be able to pick up singles once a secondary market establishes itself.

And ouch! That's just bad luck. Did you buy 12 separate boosters or was there some sort of distribution problem in the cases that you bought?

Mostly separate, a couple of friends and I split a case, and I bought the rest from a few FLGS in the area. Honestly the only time I’ve bought DDMs after that was a beholder from ebay. I use them for d&d, so the random thing was really annoying.

I guess the question now is, what scale are the figs? D&D compatible?

Well it looks like a Warmachine Base. Those usually come in 30mm, 40mm and 50mm. If it's 30mm, then even the orc will 'fit' on the 25mm square base on an angle. He'll dwarf other minis, but the WOW line will still be deployable unless scale creep really bugs someone.

If that orc is on a 40mm base, he might still barely fit on a 25 square base, but he'll be all over the place bumping other figs and looking awful out of scale.

If he is on a 50mm base, well, he'll be a fine mini for an enlarged orc.
