Worlds of Warcraft Beta Announced

Well, assuming I can make enough money to cover upgrades to my computer, I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be picking this up. Last MMORPG I played was UO (right when it came out), though I beta-tested Dark Ages. Just goes to show my confidence in Blizzard...

Although I've played other MMORPGs (by using friends accounts and such), I've never been impressed by one of them enough to pay the monthly fee. World of Warcraft is going to be the first MMORPG that I'll be buying and subscribing to.

Not only am I a long-time fan of the Warcraft setting, but Blizzard has yet to produce a game that didn't completely addict me.

Anyone know if WoW will have anything like a competitive PVP zone? You know, so you can actually go to war. If not, I'll probably stick with Dark Ages until I hear the word on Lineage 2.

Just got into the WoW beta phase 3, downloaded the program today and just finished playing a little. Seems pretty sweet, the graphics are nice and clear, and the controls seem pretty easy. Finished a few solo quests in and around town and hit lvl 2 pretty quick. So far looks pretty darn good.

The answer to that question is yes. According to the Blizzard employees, there will be full-sized battlefields where Alliance players and Horde players can fight each other in large-scale battles. The victorious army will recieve rewards such as access to new shops, expirience, treasure, etc.

Sounds very cool, to say the least.

I saw the contest but it was after the deadline had passed. Bummer.
