Nowhere on the forum rules am I so obligated to fulfill your whim and desires. If you want to burn me at the stake for that, by all means. Thus far i've seen a handful of people with the civility to tolerate my unique methods of carrying forth an idea i'm reluctant to bring out, and to those people, you have my respect.

Wow. You don't want to act like an adult because the rules don't say you have to? That's fair. A pretty petty argument but an accurate one. :\

So in other words you really can't figure out why you're offended. Or you really don't want to face the real reason you're offended. Because deep down the stereotype represents you and or people you know?

I've been to Gencon, and that ad is as true as they come. There are WAY more offended things in ads and commericials. I"m African-American and I have to endure snoopdog schoolizil Lee Iococa about why Chryslers are Dope. I got to to read magazines that tell me why fly honies will get with me if I drink Conac. I got to watch shows where people quip about blackwomens big butts.

And you want to get on here and talk about how you're "so offended" because one makes a light hearted joke about mmorpgers and role playing. GEESH I assumed this thread at first was something funny and light hearted but I see that anyone offended by this ad has some deep subconscious guilt or identification they need to deal with.

Different strokes for different folks. It's a harsh world.

If i'm correct in this...a request is something that can be fulfilled, or denied, correct? I just choose to deny it, that's all. Why ask something if you're not willing to accept the lesser outcome?

It wasn't a request. It was an answer to your question. You asked why you should be expected to defend yourself. I answered your question truthfully. I don't care if you want to fill my wishes or not, but don't ask a question and then shoot the messenger because you don't like the answer.

Because dispite how often I am proven wrong, I like to think the best of p[eople. So, why are you choosing not to? What great horrors are you avoiding? Or as the evidence seems to be leaning, you actually have no reasons. You are just trolling here.

I don't fit the stereotype, but I honestly feel others don't have to be subjected to ridicule that can be created off such ads from other low-minded individuals.

I wouldn't say anyone. Looks like just one.

Don't bring something up if you're not going to explain it.

Oh wait...where did I here that from before?!
Ahem...

Gather round, my friends, and I shall relate unto you the tale of the offensive advertisement...

During the Olympics, a woman was advertised. This woman, a professional Olympic class runner, was in the tried and true creepy old house, and running a bath, when suddenly a chainsaw wielding maniac burst in and tried to get her!

She leaped away and sped off down the road, leaving the aforementioned chainsaw weilding undead psychopath panting and wheezing in the middle of the road.

NOw, this created a fury of complaints, some of which were OK: "My daughter had nightmares becasue of this!" to the ludricious: "This ad portrays it as acceptable to try and chainsaw women" and "This ad shows women to be weak, unable to defend themselves from a man." (HELLO! IT'S JASON FRIGGEN VORHEES, NOT SOME REDNECK!)

Now, all of these people were very vocal (and of course, some of them deserve to be mocked and jeered) and were offended by that advertisement.

They explained themselves.

You, have not.

In any discussion on these boards, you may be asked to defend your opinion and explain your reasonings. That is part of discusion. Otherwise, just post in a thread called Persian Sez So because otherwise we'll call it into play.

As for me ratcheting up, aren't you the one who called my intelligence into play? I warned you nicely, then you responded sarcastically, and after that, you responded by calling me "boy."

I've been exceptionately polite, and if somehow your little feelings got hurt by what I posted, and my continued request for you to explain yourself, then my advice to you is to use the ignore feature on me (I'm prominently featured on many!), or don't try laying down the smack on me.

I'll ask again: Why did you find the advertisement in question offensive? Or are you defended the great mass of silent gamers?

Your parents sound like saints.
Off topic mostly, but, they are. I'm really lucky to have what I have, they ask for some money to help cover expenses sometimes, which I gladly give, but they don't ask for much. My mom just says she is glad I'm around. *shrug*

Plus, the TV is their old one, they bought a new one and didn't have a use for it.

Due to this situation, yes, I don't have much reason to move out.

That's fair. I, too, would like people not to ridicule gamers based on stereotypes because not everyone is like that. However, do you wish the same thing for every other stereotype you see in advertising? Or is it just the ones you have some sort of emotional attachment to? If you're willing to laugh at other stereotypes, it is only fair to ask you to laugh at the ones that fit the genre you have an interest in. Do you not agree?
