D&D 4E WotC guys - Playtesting 4E in Canada/outside the US?

Every time I see a thread with playtest in the title I get all excited.

Then comes the letdown ... and the thought that they might let Canadians, of all people, playtest D&D.

If they're letting the Canadians into this shindig, the least they can do is let ME in.

:)

We are not excluding Canadians (or other non-USA residents for that matter) as we discuss the plans.

The only hitch I can foresee is because testers will be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement I am not sure how it would work with people outside the USA.

I was a Canadian playtester for 3e (and while I can't offer Seahawks tickets I've got Canadian beer! That's gotta be worth at least as much... :D ) and there didn't seem to be a problem with NDAs at that time. Were there some recent legal changes that potentially creates an issue here? With the company I used to work for we've signed NDAs with other American companies in the past and I don't recall there being any issues...

As much as I'd like to be a playtester too (who wouldn't? :D ), I'd say to be very careful with that, if confidentiality is really important for you. I work in Finland, and my company had issues with that when cohoperating with other companies abroad (particularly in Asia). The policy may be very different...

cohoperating
This is a very old law, but the cohoperation clause only applies to beer makers.

PS: Yes, I'm a double-bad person for posting a spelling flame.

Issue one. 3e was playtested when Wotc was it's own company. Their legal team may not have viewed international boarders as that great of a risk. Now Hasbro calls the shots and Wotc may even be using Hasbro Lawyers. Now someone more paranoid / cautious may be calling the shots.

If another country allows far less civil / criminal penaties than the US for uploading a playtest document to Crapidshare or Megacorruptload, The legal team should be cautious about that.
