WotC mistakes that cause you headaches -

Delayed Blast Fireball's duration is not random. However, it also doesn't end the instant time stop ends, so people have time to see the glowing beads and decide what to do.

Time Stop isn't random if Maximized. Nice try, but if you apply the metamagic it is a definite 5 rounds. That means all five beads go boom as soon as the time stop ends.

No, they go boom after X number of rounds, determined by you when you cast them. Their durations don't start until timestop ends, so at the bare minimum your opponents have one round of looking at glowing beads on the floor and wondering what they should do.

Round 1, Init 20: Cast Timestop and 5 DBFs, all delayed one round
Round 2, Init 20: Your effects with one round durations trigger

Yeah, that works so incredibly well when you're a paladin in a tyrant's kingdom.

Quoted just to reference the thread within a thread.

In the game I DM we have specified certain key things all Paladins try to uphold or not do. I think they are:

1 - Protect the innocent
2 - Slay evil
3 - Don't Lie
4 - Don't run/surrender
5 - Uphold the Law

Depending on the diety the pally follows the tenants are organized in terms of priority. You cannot break a higher tenant to accomplish a lower tenant. We find this greatly reduces the number of debates about what a paladin is to do in certain situations. Also important to note that it is not carte blanche to violate tenants to acheive a higher tenents, if you can accomplish the higher tenant in a way that will not break any other tenants then that way is preferred over a way that breaks tenants.

Also, not sure if this is RAW or not, but detect evil, protection from evil only work on beings that have an aura as described in the detect evil spell description.

Dear Wizards of the Coast,

I implore you, for the love of All That's Holy, PLEASE include a clear and concise paragraph in your next edition of D&D on what a Paladin would do when confronted with an Orc baby. Please help end this 33-year-old travesty of a civil dispute among D&D players.

Sincerely,

D&D Players everywhere.
