Would you play a class with no special abilities?

Of course, it would also be the ideal 1st level "dip" class for multi-class whatevers. (It grants Heavy armor and all Martial weapons, right?) It's better than one level of Ranger for many folks, and Ranger is a great 1st level.

sure i'd play it...but as others have said, there is a lot more to a class besides HP, Saves and Skill points. The BAB progression would be important, and the skill list as well.
It would also depend on the campaign, sometimes having an uber powerful character is not as important as having one with an interesting backstory/weird circumstances

Although I would be willing to play it, I would find it less fun than playing a class with somewhat worse basic progressions, but with plentiful special abilities. I like special abilities and find generic classes to be interesting design-wise, but less interesting to play (again, I would still play it, and mechanically it may even be more powerful than classes with special abilities, but I would rather play a class with special abilities if the choice were available.

The idea behind a class system is that by choosing a class you've chosen a role for yourself as well.

So what is the purpose of this class? What does it do? What is its role? Based on the information you've given, it appears that it does very basic things very well and nothing else. At face value it seems very boring. It does put a lot of creative onus on the player, which is not necessarily a bad thing. But I think people would generally shy away from such a class because there really is no apparent role involved.

Also, it's a super-awesome dipper class, at any level.

probably depends a bit on the supplements allowed. Skill tricks are nice. Or Iajitsu-Focus. There are so many options for skills out there that the heap of skill points can give you quite a lot of options, if they are allowed.
Yeah, exactly. I was about to say "no", before I thought about skill tricks. Mr. Perfect here would actually be able to do some interesting stuff after all, instead of merely being blandly capable.

Sorry sorry I forgot to add

Good BAB
All skills as class skills

But not weapon or armour proficiency at all. No other abilities.

Would it still be worth it?

The role this class would fulfill? I'm not sure, I'd probably say he represents the epitome of normal. non-magical training.

The no weapon/armor proficiency just means you need to dip a single level in fighter.
