Would you & your group roleplay on camera?

What wuold a video of just gamers playing (without any realization of what was going on in the imagined world) be for? What would it accomplish?

Well to return to my point above, I'd enjoy watching other GM's (particularly those noted as being great GM's) run their games so that I could try and pick up on the techniques they employ. I think that, on the whole, I'm a pretty good GM but I'm always looking for new ways to improve and refine my skills. For many years we've had lots of resources in the form of books and web pages that talk about good GMing techniques. But unless you play in a game where these things are employed then you don't get good, concrete examples of them in action.

If I could purchase a product that included an adventure written by Kevin Kulp, with plenty of notes about what he was thinking when he wrote it, along with video of the session in which he ran the game, including further commentary by himself and the players, then I probably would. I think this would make an awesome DVD with Extras and the adventure on same disc.

So, PC, whenever you get a chance to hop right on that, I've got my checkbook ready. ;)

I've been secretly taping our sessions for four months now.... :uhoh:

And I was wondering why your wife always managed to conveniently "disappear" right at game time. Ballerina, my butt. She's a film student! I just knew something was afoot...

Could be fun. Knowing you're on camera though might throw off the dynamics of the party. I'd feel bad for all those people I talk about actually seeing how mean I am! :p

I think the game lends itself more easily to radio than TV. If you recorded your game then edited it down to fit in a one hour format, you could potentially sell it as a weekly radio serial. Watching people sit around a table for an hour just isn't as captivating to me. Besides radio requires the listener to use their own imagination when they hear the characters and the events described.

It probably wouldn't cost to much to get this going either. Most college radio stations are up for screwball ideas to fill airtime. As long as you don't curse or break FCC regulations. You would need commercials spliced in the show in the U.S. too. There are lots of word play and storytelling shows today anyways. This would be just like an extemporaneous old time radio play in a fantasy genre. You could even get yourself a sound effects man. :)

And a really good group would be needed to sell it too.

No.

As DM I could make the worst call in the world and my group would forgive and forget but video a gaming session and let others see it? They'd kick me out of the group for even suggesting something like that and I organized the group!
