[YAELHT*] What are you going to do with the ELH?

I have completed the stating out of one of those Epic Level characters I spoke of above. Velgrian is an Acota Barbarian of some legend in my Umbragia campaign.

In the end he is: Barbarian 17/Fighter 12/Rogue 11 -- a 40th level character overall. When I get a chance, I will post his stats somewhere on the boards.

I think the ELH accomplished its mission. It is just that using the word "epic" in the title makes some people think of something other than just "High Level Play" -- and so, I think if the book had gone with the title "High Level Handbook" a lot of false expectation would have gone by the wayside.

I have some ideas on a book I want to write that I will call the "Mythic Player's Guide" that will add that "mythic" and "epic" feel to the game. Maybe you will see it in print at some point. :)

Hey Psion, on a related note, when do you think we'll see your full review posted about the Epic Level Book? I'm interested to see your full review.

Thanks! :)

Why are you such a troll? I mean seriously. I'm not a poster who normally asks these things but come on, answer the question. I know it's a thread asking what you're going to do with the ELH, but can't you get into the spirit of things? If you can't say something positive... blah..blah...blah. I mean why waste people's time with your nonsense?

While I have been reading through it, I have been thinking of using it to run a campaign involving dragon PC's ala Council of Wyrms, but I want to finish reading the book before actually get down to making plans.

Would it be too much to ask that if you don't have anything useful to contribute to the topic of the thread, you find a thread to post in that DOES fit what you want to say? This thread is for those people who do have enough imagination and perception to see ho how the ELH might be useful, rather than a whine fest for those who merely want to foist their loathing on the rest of us.

Thanks.

I have an even better idea -- why don't you stop telling people what to say? Who do you think you are? Well, you aren't. Maybe you could redirect some of your "perception" and "imagination" towards not thinking you have any right to tell anyone else what to do. If you only want positive things in the world, go live in YOUR world and leave us to the real one, and the imaginary ones we use. If you want to make personal attacks on people you don't agree with, then you are the troll...

If I owned it I would use it for statting out Baba Yaga in 3e. I will probably wait the 4 years for it to be released in the srd however. I would probably also use it for giving darklords more powers in Ravenloft. Epic Strahd, "I am the Land!"

He was not telling anyone what to say. He was asking for some common courtesy. There is a difference. If you cannot see that, I cannot help you.
Who do you think you are?
He thinks he is a poster that goes by the name of Psion. I think he is someone that commands a lot more respect around here than you do.
Well, you aren't.
He isn't Psion? Then would you care to plase tell us all who he is, then?
Maybe you could redirect some of your "perception" and "imagination" towards not thinking you have any right to tell anyone else what to do.
He has every bit as much a right to ask for courtesy as you have to tell him he cannot; and I have just as much right to tell you where you can stick your opinion. All of this, within the bounds of the rules of these boards, of course.
If you only want positive things in the world, go live in YOUR world and leave us to the real one, and the imaginary ones we use.
Where did he state that he wanted only positive things in his world? Oh, that's right, he didn't. He just asked for some consideration... I am very sorry that you cannot seem to diferentiate between courtesy and totalitarianism, but thems the breaks. And just when were you elected to be the spokesman for us?
If you want to make personal attacks on people you don't agree with, then you are the troll...
And could you point out the personal attack (your own post exempted, of course)? Oh, there was not one of those either. I see.

What Monsieur Ladage said.

As far as my epic-level plans: I'll probably just use the ELH to kit out my FR campaign: NPCs, artifacts, epic spellcasting, etc. There is a remote possibility that our longest-term campaign, which features 21st-25th level PCs, will be resurrected at some future point...

One question: Is anyone actually contemplating the use of higher epic levels(40th+)? If so, what sorts of adventures are you planning on running? Personally, I have rather a difficult time imagining play at such levels; DM-ing 15th+ level PCs already feels like I'm scripting a superhero comic...

A D&D game based on a superhero comic would be so rad. Just imagine the Infinity Gauntlet as a D&D game. Some may not like it, but I would wet my pants.

The topic of this thread is how you intend to use the Epic Level Handbook.

The topic of this thread is not: "ELH, yay or nay?" If that had been the thread, you would have been perfectly justified in the placement of your statement.

As it is, you are just being rude and condascending, and trying to foist your unwanted attitude on others. All I ask is that you take it to an appropriate thread.

Why would you bother to post to *this* thread unless your purpose is merely to spoil the potential of a thread that could turn out to be a rather thoughtful discussion. And if the ELH is as sucky as you say it is, then what do you have to be afraid of?

At any rate, I know you think I am just trying to keep you down, but really, I am just asking you for some courtesy. To wit, I will repeat my request: please take your loathing elsewhere. Start your own thread if need be.

Thanks.

P.S. Thanks Kenneth. (Sorry. :) )
