[YB Dojo] The Iron Hand School

Ciaran

First Post
Upon attaining the rank of Brown Belt, the exile Samidare opened his own dojo in the city of Chang-an. There, in a small room between a wine shop and a seller of sweet cakes, he taught the arts of unarmed combat to a few select students.

He required all of his students to learn the fundamentals of the Fist style before they might progress further. Thereafter, he taught four additional techniques: the Seven Thunder Shout, the Whispering Scorpion Feint, the Invulnerable Ki-Rin Stance and the Spinning Hammer Strike.

His students were few, but their prospects were great, for he accepted nothing less than perfection from those who would study under him. For Samidare, teaching was yet another battle; a battle against ignorance, in which he would accept nothing less than victory.

Nekokaburi takes the last bite of the pork bun, then stands before the door of Samidare's school.

"Samidare-sensei! I have regained my honour, and if you would have me as student, I would be honoured to learn the Fist Style as a student of the Iron Hand School."

The samurai stands spear-straight, waiting silently.

The young warrior appears in the doorway. "Welcome, Nekokaburi-san," he says with a bow to the grizzled samurai. "I have been waiting for you. Please come in, and we will begin your training."

Nekokaburi enters respectfully and bows low before Samidare.

"Sensei, this yen is my wealth before beginning on the path of the Iron Hand dojo. I ask that you accept it as a gift, and allow me to study free of worldly trappings."

"I thank you for your generosity, Nekokaburi-san. I shall put your yen into the school fund. Perhaps we will find a use for it sometime soon. Until then, think no more of it. Now, let us begin with the Eight Directions Defense..."

"That raw power is inconsequential compared to knowledge of self and one's enemy: that concealment of one's true power and form can attain victory more surely than a skilled technique."

"I hope you will forgive me for my absence, sensei-sama. I was grinding flour with my fists in order to correct my weak Kame-no-Kaze Fist."

Samidare nods. "You have learned much, Nekokaburi-san. Now go forth and test your wisdom in battle. Return to me when you have learned more."
