The demons laugh.

"You wish to explore this section of hell?"

The other one sniffs at Kalath and with eyes glowing declares, "Fear not, your soul is black enough that you shall soon enough enter beyond the gates."

"Heh. Thanks for the vote of confidence."

"So, this pillar would take me downwards into the fires of hell, would it?"

"Actually," confides one of the demons, "this set takes you down to the pit of hell. The fires of hell are a bit lower."

"Hmmm, such an improvement, the pit over the fires. Almost makes me want to try it! Only going into the pity would probably give me two or three more seconds of life."

"But how about this. I'm not gonna get past to you, and even if I did it'd be pretty dumb if I actually tried to explore hell itself. So I'll just go away and stop bothering you two, but it'd certainly give me a great incentive to get on my way faster if I knew of a good way to get to the areas between this city and hell."

"You want in the sewers?" says one of the demons. "Easiest way is to go through the entrance in the north end of the lake of dreams. Be careful of the cultist though, they are busy down there lately."

"Worst part about being a demon is having to deal with crazy cultist!" says the other, "Though of course these cultist lately don't want much to do with us proper demons, always trying to awaken something worse they think!"

The other laughs, "Serve them right if they got something to wake up and eat them!"

"Hmm, thanks. I assume the lake of dreams is the one to the east with the small, dark island in the middle?"

"And I'll watch out for the cultists and make sure to tell you two if they somehow manage to summon something worse than a demon, heh."

"There's nothing worse than a demon, just some things are uglier." says the small demon with a wink, "Yeah thats the lake - sewer sludge flows into it and gets eaten by the fungi."

Kalath chuckles. "Thanks for the help. Though I don't how they could ever call up uglier than some demons... heh."

With that, Kalath makes his out of "tHe BiZZare" and heads back to the lake path and this time takes the north branch.

North and Northwest of the lake of dreams are smaller buildings, likely houses.

As Kalath winds his way around the lake he eventually sees what he assumes to be his goal. At the northernmost tip of the lake is a large round bricked tunnel with water slowly sludging its way out and into the lake. The smell is pretty bad. One can either trudge down to the shore of the lake and wade into the tunnel or one could perhaps swing in from above and land at the lip of the tunnel.
