Despite again being "run 1 session and gain a level" level 3-4 felt earned but only because it was 3 PCs. I imagine the standard recommended 4-5 PCs would have stomped things without me adding in more enemies.
.
Yeah, I can say there was a lot of stomping in this adventure when I ran it with four. (Although I did kill PCs later on during one particular episode...)

But yes - the later levels feel a lot more earned, even if you run the events quickly.

Cheers!

Again only 3 players but you know what? If either them at level 4 the battles were harrowing.

Throwing battles at them meant for 4-6 characters worked out well.

I say 3 characters is the magic number for people playing the published Dragonlance adventure with 5.5 ed.

If more players play, I’ll just add more enemies based on 3 players being the normal amount.

4 players adds 25% more enemies etc

One of the things I don't know: How good groups playing these adventures actually are. You've got us forum-dwellers, who know a lot about the game and how to play it well.

And then you have your more casual gamer. Are these encounters actually balanced for them?

If they played the way I play, probably not. They tend to just rush into melee because 5th ed lol.
