Your favorite "villain" race and why?

Orcs!

Go Green!

I typically give them a level or two of barbarian when the party gets stronger, but Cleric and Druid work out nicely as well, as does Adept. Adept is especially nasty. Nothing says "ouch" like an orc in chainmail tossing around lightning bolts.

Dopplegangers. They are usually the contracted badass assassins in my desert campaign.

Cloakers. Ever since realizing how closely cloakers resemble The Dark from Barbara Hambly's 'Darwath' trilogy, I've liked them. And that one module featuring the 'cloaker rift' in the Underdark.. creepy. So we tuned them up a bit and made them major players.

Neogi, using the illustration from the old Monstrous Manual supplement, because who doesn't need spider slavers? I'm not big on Drow for the desert campaign, so all the Drow spidery goodness stuff got put on these guys, and their turncoat human servants.

Yaun-ti, 'cause everyone like serpentmen.

Hobgoblins, who have an entire empire in the desert campaign. They replace orcs as the major non-human threat to human dominance.

Tanar'ri (sp?) have always been my favorite villianous race. No other race can match such unmitigated Evil and brilliance, along with a true sense of style. The Baatezu really need to take a few pointers on how to terrify the puny mortals that dare stand in the path of the Infernal powers.

Hobgoblins are one of my favs too. I use a slightly different Hobgoblin with a +2 to Str, Dex, Con, and +4 move silently and weapon familiarity swords, axes, and bows. Very scary race.

I am also fond of Vampires, Devils, and Yuan-Ti.

Yugoloths - what can I say but when it comes to being the exemplar race of pure evil, unmitigated and untainted by chaos or law, well there you go. So go on with your lives and simply assume us to be greedy, selfish mercenaries of the Blood War. All the while we pull the strings and bide our time, plotting everlong...

Yaun-Ti - they're just rather interesting and can be placed inside human societies for some serpentine psionic fun.

Rakshasa - the forgotten fiends. You can't beat their sense of style (unless you're a Yugoloth) and that structured but bloodthirsty level of evil they have. Tony the Tiger with spell immunities.

Bladelings - xenophobic evil cutters from Acheron. When you can survive and have a prospering society surrounded in the pitch dark by a storm of hurtling blades of jagged Styx Water ice and broken iron and steel... thats impressive.

Gnolls - Gotta love them. Good for dealing with parties from 1st level up (using classes or templates), and I've made myself very familiar with their personalities and lifestyles.

Undead - Servants that can't argue with you. Evil overlords love 'em. Plus, many make good random encounters or villains in their own right (I soo want to use some of my Chainmail figures as the basis of an adventure).

Kaorti - I've found new 'supervillains' in these guys. Again, good from 1st level up, they provide such an alien menace it's going to be useful for an Incursion-style campaign.

I won't mention humans. Of course, humans can do all the things we imagine, cause it's us humans who imagine those things, and we also imagine all the other races.
Yes, please don't mention humans...that would be bad-wrong.

Badong, even.

(Just because they're the best evil villains EVAR, doesn't mean we should bring them up. Oh no. Not humans.) :D

Clowns! Evil clowns, of the "IT" or vampire variety. Throw in a couple of evil dolls or animated toys as side-kicks to add flavor.

Oh, I'm all about the hobgoblins as villains, baby. They're as intelligent as humans, and that lawful evil tendency means they can be pretty darn organized and efficient in their vileness. The next campaign I run, I'm seriously toying with the idea of making them basically an advanced nation of fantasy-flavored nazis. Now THERE'S a villain you can hate!
