Your first character with a Prestige Class

I've only played in two 3e or 3.5 campaigns...

In one I was playing a Cleric of Fire & Magic who picked up the Summoner PrC from Relics & Rituals 1... it was, well, pretty damn potent.

The latest character was very sub-par... a dwarven cleric - wizard. He's level 8 now, and has 2 levels of Mystic Theurge and FINALLY can cast level 3 spells. He was the reason that I wrote Secrets of Theurgy. He's a lot of fun, but very weak at this point in his career - I almost feel guilty for being the primary spellcaster and only finally picking up lightning bolt at level 8.

Haven't run a PC with a prc yet.

I've only rarely used them as DM -- I think my first was a Red Wizard of Thay. They're a pain in the butt to use. I wish each PrC description came with a very clear statement like: "The lowest level build that can get into this PrC is a 5th level half-elven ranger with feats X, Y and Z and max ranks in skills A, B, and C." Figuring out the requirements is sometimes a pain even with electronic character tools.

That's pretty funny. I just described such a concept to Patrick Younts yesterday. I think he's taking a shot at it (I am as well, but I've got so much going on that I suspect Patrick will finish first).

Human dual-classed wizard "&" cleric, earlier edition.
As far as I was concerned, the prereqs to pick up a second class were the equivalent of a "prestige class," even though I didn't have the term at the time.

My first was a Hunter of the Dead but the game went on hiatus a year ago just after he took the level.
But it might be revived this Sunday (I Hope) :)

Mine was a dwarf fighter that took cleric levels and then a class in GR's Hammer and Helm called Knight of the Iron Forge or something like that.

My first 3E character was named "The Man Without Honor", a fighter/sorcerer (later the DM allowed me to swap my sorcerer levels with shugenja levels) who became a Master Samurai (Sword & First). I wanted to play an Asian-flavored samurai character, but we started playing before OA had come out and no other 3rd party publishers had done a samurai yet. I was also the last one to join the group and they were really light on magic (still are, actually), hence the three or four levels of shugenja.

I almost had a bard try for Arcane Trickster via some rogue levels. Then I decided not to bother & just stick to bard. That was the closest I ever got to a prestige class.
