D&D 4E Your habits, considering 4e is coming

At this point, maybe switching to True20. However, I am still planning to buy about 6 past WOTC products and about a dozen third party books (including Book of Iron Might and Elements of Magic: Revised) before the end of the year to finish customizing the game to exactly what I want. The only difference is that I may make the DND purchases via ebay.

Will this change any plans for long term campaigns?
No

Going to have your current game finish up around the time of the 4e release?
No. my current campaign will end when it ends.

Think you'll be losing gamers from your group if you try 4e?
No, we are not planning on switch at this time. Nobody in the group is interested in switching and the two people who also play in other groups say that their groups are not interested in 4e at this time either.

I actually have a game! The group I used to DM 3.0 for decided to get back together, with 3.5 versions of their old characters, to reach an ending point before the spellplague.

Since my current campaign is a 'last hurrah' for 3rd edition in our group, yes, it will be ending about when 4th comes out. (Though if it runs long we'll continue until it's finished.)

I'd lose players from my group if I didn't switch.

I Now take out a D12 once a week, polish it a bit, sigh, and put it back in its bag.

Im building a suitcase sized coffin for gencon next year, where people can lay thier d12's to rest :(

I pine about the days when i got to roll lots of dice. I'm a gamer, i LIKE rolling dice. If the D20 system gets any more streamlined, all I'll have left is a big bag of D20's *cries*

Oh wait...then it will be the DnD miniatures wargame... :uhoh:

As for my current campaigns, were finishing Castle Ravenloft and calling it quits until the new edition. Going to dust off the old West End Games Starwars RPG and play that. For those who have never played it, it puts the 3.5 WotC to shame. Cant compare it to Saga yet though, as I havent had a chance to play a SAGA campaign yet.

Completely unaffected except that once official 3.5 material stops being released, there will be a whole lot more money in my wallet (and no more of my money in WotC's coffers). Goodman Games and Paizo will continue to see my business as long as they support 3.5/OGL. This from a loyal WotC customer who owns over 60 of their 3.5/3e hardbacks and well over 2500 minis.

None whatsoever. Bill Slaviscek doesn't get to tell me when to "start wrapping up (my) 3.5 campaigns" <---- actual quote from GenCon 07 announcment. I've got fresh material for decades to come.

No FRACKING way. See above.

If I do, it will be their loss - but only one member of our rotating roster of 10+ has expressed any real enthusiasm for 4e's arrival. My core group of 5 regulars has no plans to "upgrade."

Smell what I'm cooking, WotC? You lost us. 5 years too soon at the least.

Our group might be more inclined to do some short-term experiments with other systems and variant rules in the 4e runup. The 3.5 game I'm playing in now has been on hiatus for the last month while I run a short Star Wars Saga Edition arc; the Plan (tm) is to wrap that up in a week or two, go back to the high-level D&D game for a while, and return to the Star Wars universe the next time the D&D DM wants a break.

It might change plans for the next long-term campaign, but the current one, even with the Star Wars breaks mentioned above, should be done before 4e launches. Also, I might DM 4e; I won't DM 3.5 at a tabletop.

I think it'll be done before then.

If we'd lose people by trying 4e, we won't try it. But I don't think anyone in our group knows anywhere near enough to say with 100% certainty that we're going to love it, hate it, think it's not bad and if the DM wants to try it they'll go along, or what.

Given that I have no playtime at this point, I've been collecting and reading through interesting adventure material. I picked up a couple Expeditions, the Cormyr/Shadowdale books, and looking at Savage Tide.

I suspect not much will change with the release of 4e even if I'm playing at the time, unless everyone in the group agrees to attempt a conversion (DM included), or just start anew.

Less likely to buy 3e crunch.

I think we will try out 4e soon after release but who knows? It might suck.

Just kidding. I love you Mike Mearls, with all my appendages!

Not planning on changing anything. Right now I'm running Monte Cook's WoD and my players are having a blast.

mcrow said:

Nope. I'm starting a C&C pick up game with alternating CK's on Sat afternoons in about two weeks. In November I'll be ending the first arc of my Monte Cook's WoD rpg and starting a Runequest/Eternal Champions campaign.

mcrow said:

Don't really have a reason to. If I like Runequest enough I'll stick with that and get out of the D&D game(unless Privateer Press makes an Iron Kingdoms game based off 4e). If not I'll pick up a 2nd printing, hopefully with eratta of the corebooks.

Naw, my players are mooches...okay not exactly they all bought C&C PHB's and Scion:Hero...everything else I provide so I get to choose the game.

I stopped running 3.x some years ago, so for me it's a positive change. (Unless the reviews for 4e completely stink, I'll be buying it.) That also means I haven't bought anything crunchy for 3.x for years.

Right now we only have one person running an on-again/off-again campaign based around Bo9S. Since that stuff will, to some extent, end up in 4e, I doubt he'll quit running. At worst, he'll just keep the old campaign until it runs out of steam (which it looks to be doing since it's not a serious campaign).

well i hope to start running red hand in a month. When we get done, i think people want experiment. Some want to play ogg..ug, not my cup of tea. I think eventually we will play 4e some time after it comes out, but not right after it comes out.
