[sblock=ooc]Hello all. Me crash party. Where drinks and girls?[/sblock]

One-Who-Waits arrives in Fisherman's Alley, having promised a friend to deliver a package of herbs to someone in the area. Much to his surprise, he hears a violent commotion (the surprise registers in his face only as a near-imperceptible lifting of his brows). He heads towards the sound, wondering whether someone is in trouble.

[sblock=Tomalak]Sorry for running your PC. You were not late; I just wanted to wrap up this fight right now. As you can see, we have company. For future reference, solo fight are a little long at low level. In my 12th level PbP campaign, the Dragon was much more fun.[/sblock]

Matlal charges furiously but his approach is off and he misses. Andrec isn't much more successful when he attacl and he even gets slashed by a tentacle for his trouble but Jarel's shield covers him. His actions are not in vain, however, as he creates and opening for Matlal who strikes true this time.

The Usurper's minion agonizes! He strikes furiously at Jarel, hoping at last to wear him down. He does gets in a a good strike but it is too little too late. Matlal immediately follows up with a powerful thrust and this time it pierce the monstrosities chest. He howls in pain and suddenly burst apart. He dissolves into a large cloud that is quickly carried by the wind. The heroes have little time to savor their triumph, they feel a sudden weakness take over them. Matlal groans, tries to support himself on his spear but soon collapses on the floor, shaking. The others all feel weak and gave a hard time controlling shudders. Several bystanders seem also affected by these symptoms.

By running in opposite direction of the fleeing crowd, One-Who-Waits reach the hospital Vena's Grace. As he approaches, he sees a dark cloud being carried by the wind. Instinctively, he avoids the worst of it. Quickly, the cloud is dispersed, but it left many people in its path shaking and nearly delirious. Lucky for them, they are already near a hospital!

At the epicentre, right in front of the hospital's entrance, he discovers several adventurers fighting off the effect of this mysterious disease over what appears like a deflated giant black squid. There is a unconscious half-orc who seems seriously weakened. A fiery Genasi is covered in blood and seems to have been seriously battered. A human warrior, a scholarly looking Deva and a rustic shifter complete the band and seem to be faring better.

[sblock=OOC]It's not that they're long, so much as they always devolve to either "ok, let's smack him twenty times" or "oh crap, all of our powers are gone and he's nowhere near bloody." I've yet to have a pre-paragon solo fight that stayed fresh the whole way through. This one actually came closest.[/sblock]

[sblock=One-Who-Waits]Welcome! Nice to have a replacement for Tor. Don't mind us, we're just dying over here. Be with you in a moment. How's the weather treating you?[/sblock]

Mesa staggers, whining from the disgust of having the remains of the thing swarm over him. He releases the pressure of his panther form and reappears, still on alll fours but now from weakness.

"Ugh, do the rest of ye feel as though yer arms and legs are just too much to carry with ye right now?"

[sblock=ooc]Good to be here. I'm assuming I can't take real actions yet (I don't think I'm on the map?). So I'll take not-real actions :)[/sblock]

One-Who-Waits slows down to see if any of the bystanders need immediate healing help, and provides it if he can. If not, he continues toward the battle.

[sblock=OOC]Oh, the fight is over. You can interact with the crew, ask what is going on, get some answers.

By tomorrow I will post some info concerning the reaction of the authorities while your PCs take a breather and are examined by various healers (speaking of which, your new friend is rather good).

You can also plot your next course of action. You do have enough info to start zeroing on where Rinch might be.

One-Who-Waits approaches the group of people near the deflated squid-thing and bends to examine their injuries, starting with the unconscious half-orc. "This unworthy individual is called One-Who-Waits, and he humbly entreats the honored strangers to forgive his clumsy intrusion," he says. "This one is indeed possessed of very little talent, but if the honored strangers do not object, this one offers what little help he can provide."

[sblock=OOC Disease]
Upon inspection by One-Who-Waits, it seems the characters are all infected by a less virulant strain of the lethal Slimy Doom disease. It means that shadowfell based parasite are trying to eat your from the inside out. Gruesome. I'll let the new Shaman inform you of the diagnostic IC.

Apparently, Matlal is especially susceptible to this disease (unless Ecce reappears!)

The Immediate Effect (as in, right now) is losing two healing surge, both from current Surge and from the maximum. If you are already at 0, like Montroya, I guess you just feel extra-miserable.

You will now rest (not much choice!).

Everyone gets an endurance check and your new shaman will also roll a heal check for everyone of you. You'll take the highest of the two.

A check under 16 worsen the condition, a check of 17 to 20 keep you stable and a check of 21 or more improves your condition one step.

Improved one step : Lose one 1 surge from your maximum

Worsened One step : Each time you take damage, you gain ongoing 2 necrotic damage (save ends)

Obviously, Montroya isn't too worried about that.

If IC comes back, go ahead and roll your checks. I'll do it otherwise before we get going again.

And yes, after a few hours of rest, you will resume hunting Rinch with most of you still infected to some degree with terrible organ eating disease. How very Jack Bauer or you.[/sblock]

"This is one is but an unlearned and foolish youth," says One-Who-Waits, peering at the sick people's eyes and mouths, and feeling their pulse with gentle fingers. "Yet this one seems to recall such an affliction from somewhere... It is an otherworldly parasite, a creeping darkness that consumes the mind. Ah, the honored strangers must forgive this humble passer-by for his outlandish notions; he hopes indeed that they are false."

[sblock=ooc]One-Who-Waits will do his best to treat the disease. Do feel free to roll his checks (Heal +9) as I'm off to bed soon and IC is down. Also, if he gets a chance, he'll deliver his herbs (probably makes most sense if they were intended for the hospital all along).[/sblock]
