Well I got the idea from the Fiendish Symbiont, p.218 Fiend Folio. I figured there ould be an opposite as well. Personally, I'd go with some kind of flying creature that can lift the Wemic or perhaps a Celestial symbiont of some kind that provide a pair of wings. A lil OT Not to steer too much off-topic (and wrong forum I might add) but would simply switching Chain Lightning and CoC dice to d8's give these spells the boost they should have? More punch but less flexibility as far as range/space?

IMC I have a PC moving along nicely as a fighter specializing in the spiked chain. Will likely go for master of chains. How have other DMs handled these PCs? Rules for tight spaces and wielding a reach weapon? How quickly do you allow opponents to figure out the reach capability of the chain...

Don't see why they wouldn't be able to vocalize, it would sound a little funny but the vocal component would remain the same.

You can always use the Dragonlance Minotaur race, played as a straight regular race no ecl.
