I've run AD&D. I currently run Mentzer Classic, and PC recently stole a green dragon's hoard. I rolled on the treasure table and nearly maxed out the gold piece value (100,000 gp worth of platinum!). AIR it was around 150,000gp value total. 1 million is excessive even in AD&D.

A Dungoen adventure had a million gp gem in it so its not unheard of. It is a lot in AD&D but Dragon hoards were often in the 100k+ range.
