[LPF] Roamind Dead - Appendix B

The three of you continue moving quickly down the street, rushing to see if the cleric's fireball was enough to end this skeletal knight's flight of terror. Pulling up short, you find the scatter bones with soot and charring on them all over the street where they rained down.

The rider is mostly intact, but broken in half. The red malevolent glow of its eyes extinguished. The fall finished the job.

A few townsfolk peek at the carnage, but then duck back inside their doors and you can hear them put bars in place and turn locks. The city is beginning to feel like it is under siege.

Veniarus takes the brief respite that they had earned and the fact that Ariel so quickly dispelled the skeletal knight, in order to take the time necessary to call Kalius back to his side. He then glares at Ariel and says "A little warning next time, so that I don't dispel Kalius prematurely."

Cythera doesn't even bother trying to fire an arrow as the feisty war-maiden unleashes her fiery fury on the flying creature.

"Well, that was something, Ariel. You have any more of those tucked away in your jerkin?"

She kicks at a charred bone and replies to Veniarus, "You did say she was impetuous, if I recall. Since this one is down, perhaps you should call your friend back again. We will need that bludgeoning hammer of his if there are more walking bones around."

Ariel shakes her head, "Not today. I have other blessings of Her fire, but that one is expended for this day. I hope there will not be a next time, Veniarus."

"Those flying spawn from hell are probably very dangerous. The fireball took out the mount, but that knight wasn't finished until it crashed to the ground. It reminds me of that skeleton we defeated not that long ago."

"Yeah, it definitely reminded me of that type of undead as well." Veniarus says to Ariel in a non-committal way as he finishes up the summoning of Kalius. Once he materializes Kalius says "I feel like I am walking thru the revolving doors of the multiverse."

Once Kalius is summoned and finishes his snide comment Veniarus casts Mage Armor on Kalius as well as Guidance and Resistance on both himself and Kalius, maintaining a steady stream of castings until they either encounter something or hear some one in need of conflict.

Ariel hears a few screams off to the left and what sounded like a crash of something wooden. Looking in that direction, she sees a horse with its reins loose and the tack to attach it to a wagon trailing and bouncing along behind the horse on the cobblestones. It gallops from right to left across that far intersection about 100 feet ahead and disappears from view.

The screams, one male and one female choke off suddenly.

Ariel gestures to the others to draw their attention to the fleeing horse, "Something is going on over there, but let us stick together."

Being the slowest, she doesn't want her companions to rush head long into danger while leaving her behind as she clanks along in her heavier armor. The war-maiden follows along behind Cythera and Kalius went they head towards the sounds.

Veniarus and Kalius both nod their agreement and follow the other two at the pace Cythera sets so as not to leave Ariel behind. Veniarus continuing to chant spells as they go (Guidance and Resistance) so as to prevent them from being caught unprepared.

Reaching the corner, you look around to the right and see a gruesome scene. A wagon or horse drawn cart lies overturned at the intersection. There is no horse attached, probably because it was the horse Ariel saw fleeing moments before.

There are two bodies on the ground, a man and woman, lying at odd angles with their limbs akimbo. You can tell that their unnatural positions likely mean they are dead already. Not to mention that a creature is feeding on one of them.

The humanoid creature has long, sharp teeth, and its pallid flesh
is stretched tightly over its starved frame. Ariel recognizes it as a ghoul. It is holding a detached arm and is gnawing on the recently deceased flesh.

There are three walking corpses wears only a few soiled rags, their flesh rotting off their bones as it stumbles forward, arms outstretched. However, Ariel recognizes that these are not slow moving zombies but a variant that possess uncanny speed and quickness.

There is another undead creature just past the overturned wagon on the far side of the intersection. The flesh of this walking corpse is rotting and putrid, its body skeletal in places and its eye sockets glowing with red light. Ariel as learned much about this deadly creature known as a wight.

Turning to look in your direction, the undead glare at you malevolently and move to attack!
