S3: The Scythe of Seto (Bront Judging)[Completed]

First Post
Banion moves up close to the bear. In fact, he has to make the bear shift away, slightly, in order to get a shot. Either that, or go all the way around the circular walkway to attack the ex-paladin from the other side. Banion's mindblade penetrates armor to elicit a cry of pain from the lycanthrope.

Torvin lets forth a burst in invectives against the party. He stumbles, and has to windmill his arms to stay on the walkway. He drops his mace. It falls into the mist, and a small *boom* is heard, followed by a hiss.

Torvin is near dead. "You bastards! Seto will win in the end!"

Seeing Torvin crawling out on the bridge, Ogrin moves around the other side to prevent him from escaping - not that it seems likely.

"Beamer! The Scythe! Chuck it in, before some new devilry appears!"

Rasereit lunges at his angry twin with his waraxe and shield, missing twice. His eyes stray past his opponent and towards the mirror, but then he screams and shuts them tightly. In a reckless, blind swipe, his waraxe comes crashing down on the evil Rasereit's shoulder, cutting deep and instantly dropping the clone.

Eyes still closed and heaving from the sudden fight, Rasereit edges away from the mirror and turns toward the black curtain. Now looking away, he walks to it, yanks it off the wall, and backs up towards the accursed looking glass. Shutting his eyes once more, he turns around and drapes the curtain over the mirror. Taking special care not to look at any reflective surfaces, he slowly opens his eyes, his hand near his face to control what he sees. When he is assured that the mirror is properly and completely covered, he curses very loudly and rudely, and then sits on the ground.

After a moment's respite, Rasereit grunts and reaches into his pack. He pulls out the sash from his monk's outfit that he sometimes uses as nightwear. He ties the sash around the bottom of the full-length mirror, fastening the curtain to the mirror. Then he tightens his gloves and armor, puts on his pack, and picks up the mirror. "Ye're comin' wit' me, ye cheeky bloke." He walks over to the place where the black curtain hung and attempts to pass through.

This mirror is very dangerous. In the process of wrapping it up and carrying it, there is a small chance Razh will accidently see his reflection again. a 1% chance, say. OK. Dodged that bullet.

THe mirror is about 5 feet tall, and 2 feet wide. It's two wide feet, and its edging is covered with intricate carvings of gambling: dice, cards, races, chariots, darts, etc.

Razh does manage to cover it with the dark curtain and carry it through the passage.

He finds himself in an oval room with several black curtained on the walls, each presumably covering an exit. On a raised dias, a little red imp sits behind a card table with a large, ornate deck of cards in front of him. Behind him is a 20' wide black curtain.

"Greetings!" The imp shouts at the bloodied dwarf. "Welcome! Care to gamb---" he stops suddenly, his brows furrowed, and gazing intently at Razh's package. A realization dawns. He averts his eyes and shouts "You can't take that! That...that...it's dangerous! It belongs to the temple!"
From beyond another black curtain, Razh hears distant shouting.

Rasereit is no longer surprised by anything in this place. "Look mate, Ah'd love t'gamble wit' ye, but Ah've got no time. An' this ol' thing? It's either comin' wit' me, or it's goin' the same place the Scythe is goin'. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

"Dog's divine fleas, what's goin' on back there?"
Rasereit strides towards the black curtain, thinking he hears the familiar voices of Ogrin and the others at battle. "Ah'll come back t'play your li'l game, if ye like, but right now Ah've got some business t'attend to."

He walks through the large black curtain, mirror still in hand.

Seeing or rather hearing the destruction of Torvin's mace, Beamer decides Ogrin has the right of it. This is the place where the scythe can be destroyed. He moves forward, drawing out the scythe, and hurles it off the side of the bridge. He does his best to keep the scythe's path of flight well away from Torvin.

OOC:
Spells remaining: 6/3/5/1
11 charges of wand

Rasereit brushes past the imp and lumbers through the curtain onto the walkway. He takes in the presence of all his friends, the two dead assassins, the bear, Torvin on the narrow bridge. Things were looking pretty good.

Then Beamer puts his hand into his bag of holding. He pulls forth the scythe. Not such a good idea, perhaps.

After pulling it out, the halfling pauses, then heads North, shouting for the bear to follow.

Grease and haste have expired by now.
