[Mark Chance]

I give Supernatural mad props for being one of the very few watchable shows on network TV. As a Catholic and a theologian/historian, I was especially impressed with the "vengeful angel" episode for its sympathetic, human portrayal of the two priests as well as having the living priest getting the ghost priest to recognize his situation by correctly stating Church teaching that the dead do not become angels.

Other than Supernatural and House, very nearly everything else on network TV is either utter drek or only infrequently interesting.

I'm sure there have been interesting scholarly studies on the links between horror writing and Catholicism in this country, but as someone who was raised Catholic, I have to say I enjoy being the beneficiary of a lot of it.
