Courtesy of WotC is this preview from the upcoming adventure, Out of the Abyss. This preview features Zuggtmoy, the Lady of Rot, and the Demon Queen of Fungi. Out of the Abyss is only a month away now (or even earlier for preferred stores which get an 11-day head start). "Zuggtmoy, Demoness Lady of Fungi, dread and fell ruler of the 222nd ghastly plane of the Abyss, made her first full appearance in T1-4 The Temple of Elemental Evil. In her natural form, she appeared as a puffball mushroom with a toadstool growing on top. Four elephantine legs with suckers on the bottoms supported her spherical body. Truly disgusting to smell, and just as revolting to behold, Zuggtmoy is capable of summoning legions of hostile fungi to do her bidding, and may control all manner of plant life within her sphere of influence."
Out of the Abyss is nearly here. Demons will rage, most likely. One thing that all the 5E books share in common is a humorous disclaimer in the front of each. Wondering what the one in Out of the Abyss says? Look no further! It's down below this image of Demogorgon tearing Menzoberranzan apart!
The latest issue of the DRAGON+ mobile app has arrived. You can download it on your mobile device of choice. And this one has an adventure in it! "The latest issue of Dragon+ is your guide to the Underdark, where demons are running amok. Learn the story of Rage of Demons from the creative staff at Wizards of the Coast. Discover how the tabletop roleplaying game, Sword Coast Legends, the Neverwinter MMORPG, novels, and more are coming together to tell one epic story. Acquisitions, Inc. Returns

Celebrity D&D game Acquisitions, Inc., has become something of a fixture at PAX Prime. It's back again this year, complete with Chris Perkins as the Dungeon Master, on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 8:30 (Pacific) in the Main Theater at PAX Prime 2015. You'll be able to watch it live via Twitch, but for now - here's the trailer!
Through Gamer Goggles conducted a number of interviews at Gen Con this year. As well as interviews with Paizo luminaries Lisa Stevens, Erik Mona, and Jason Bulmahn, the also spoke to WotC's Jeremy Crawford in an interview which also includes Tribality's Michael Long.
You can now grab the free Hell's Rebels Player's Guide for the upcoming Pathfinder adventure path from Paizo. "Within, players of this campaign will find everything they need to create character backgrounds tied to personalities and events vital to Pathfinder Adventure Path's themes of urban rebellion and building a seditious group to fight against the oppressive tyranny of House Thrune, along with new campaign-specific traits to give bold adventurers the edge they'll need to take on the dangerous threats faced in the Hell's Rebels Adventure Path. This player's guide also features a view of the city of Kintargo where the adventure takes place, as well as various class options and advice for heroes ready to take on a Hell's Rebels campaign."
Hot on the heels of Kobold Press, Alea Publishing Group is the latest company to publish a D&D 5E adventure. At 93 pages, The Shadowed Eye of Halagar is one of the largest yet. It's available in PDF, and a hardcover version is apparently coming soon. A high level dungeon/wilderness crawl, this is designed for 13th-16th level characters, and also includes new monsters and magic items.
Written by Wolfgang Baur and Dan Dillon, The Raven's Call is a new D&D 5th Edition adventure from Kobold Press, the company that brought us Hoard of the Dragon Queen and The Rise of Tiamat. Weighing in at 33 pages, it's an adventure for 3rd-level characters, and includes six pre-gens. Plus it features Hawkman (Thanagar version) on the cover. This is the second 5E product that Kobold Press has released since Gen Con, the first being the Southlands Heroes character options book. (thanks to Jeremy for the scoop)
Game designer Jim Ward, after whom the wizard Drawmij was named, and who worked on Metamorphosis Alpha, Deities & Demigods, Greyhawk Adventures, and more, has been in hospital for some time, and various bills are rising. If you have the urge to help, there's a Go Fund Me page for him where you can donate money towards his current target of $5000 [edit - the target is now $8000] [edit - having passed $8000 the target is now $15000]. Jim has already had surgery, and needs more.
Starting earlier in the year than usual, Paizo's annual RPG Superstar competition has launched. The contest challenges you do design various Pathfinder RPG game elements in an attempt to win a freelancer contract with the company. The first round in the Open Call round, which ends August 16th (that's this coming Sunday), and for which you need to create a wondrous item, magic armor, or magic weapon.
One of the interesting things over the last few weeks has been watching the Hot Games Chart change over the Gen Con period. As you may know, that chart monitors over 1,000 sites, blogs, and forums and compares how often different games are mentioned. The big change recently has been the meteoric rise of Green Ronin's Adventure Game Engine (which powers Dragon AGE, Fantasy AGE, Titansgrave, etc.) In the last three months it has climbed from #20 or so all the way up to #4 on the [non D&D] chart, and to #9 on the combined chart.
Those who have been waiting for What's O.L.D. is N.E.W. will be pleased to hear that N.E.W. is coming along wonderfully! It's in layout, and below are a few pages from the book. These come from the Space chapter, which includes astronomical information (who says RPGs can't be educational?), and information on space travel, starship operations, sensor usage, space combat, stellar phenomena, and more.
Companies and websites getting hacked is a pretty regular occurrence these days (I've been notified just today of two breaches of companies I'm a customer of - the other is a mobile phone company). The latest victim is DriveThruRPG (also known as RPGNow), which has sent out emails to those who have made a card payment on the site since July 6th, as well as those who have their payment details stored on the site. The company has sent an email to both groups of customers. If you've used DTRPG or RPGNow in the last month or so, or if your details are stored there, be sure to check that there are no unusual transactions on your account.
New for EN5ider patrons only! In the second of his Forgotten Lore series, veteran author Ari Marmell brings you new divine player options. The Protection, Shadow, and Travel domains, the Urban druidic circle, and the Theologian, a new tradition for the wizard. Illustrated by Jeshields.
WotC is involved in an annual event called Extra Life - it's a charity for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, and WotC staff raises money for the charity by playing D&D for lots... of... hours. 48 of them! All live-streamed, so you can watch their bleary, weary faces as they slay orcs and dragons for charity! Last year, they raised $85,000; this year, they're aiming for $100,000.

Put the players within spitting distance of the fall of House Atreides and the rise of Muad’Dib.
For its first book of D&D's 50th anniversary year, Wizards is going big with a multiverse-spanning, multiverse-threatening adventure where players will face off against one of the game’s most legendary villains.
A great monster book on its own but also useful as a supplemental guide to pre-existing fantasy worlds.
