One item available at Gen Con was the new Lone Wolf Adventure Game from Cubicle 7. Creator Joe Dever encountered Wil Wheaton at the Cubicle 7 booth when the latter appeared to buy a copy of the game, although he didn't know it at the time! He kindly sent along this photograph and a short description.
There were a lot of complaints about the D&D All Access gaming at Gen Con this year. Charles Akins over at Dyvers Campaign has a great summary, so I won't repeat it here - but if you're interested, check that out. WotC and Baldman Games (who run the D&D events at Gen Con) appear to have heard those complaints, because they are taking action to address them - to the extent that they're giving All Access badge holders a free copy of the upcoming hardcover Out of the Abyss, and a free copy of Sword Coast Legends video game!
Here's another preview of the Primeval Thule campaign setting for D&D 5th Edition coming from Sasquatch Games. I already showed you the table of contents and the beastman warrior. This time it's one of the nineteen character narratives from the setting. "In 5e, narratives can be taken as an alternative to backgrounds. Narratives provide a small list of benefits thematically linked to the story and flavor of the specific narrative. At first level these features include skill training and usually a signature ability that provides a small combat benefit. As the character increases in level, additional benefits become available, reflecting a rise in stature or notoriety. At higher levels a narrative might grant an income, a title, or even followers!" (thanks to Fabrício for the scoop!)
Over at RPGGeek, an enterprising person has put together a ranked list of available gaming seats for various systems at Gen Con this year. Pathfinder tops the list with 11,540 seats, with Dungeons & Dragons someway in second place at 8,807. There's an enormous gap then, before the rest of the pack. Other interesting nuggets include the fact that there appear to be four times as many seats for WEG's old Star Wars RPG than the current FFG version.
Upcoming D&D video game Sword Coast Legends has been pushed back by three weeks. The PC release is now September 29th, with the console releases still being unchanged at "late 2015". However, a "headstart access" will be available from September 8th for anyone with a PC pre-order. Note only that, but pre-orders will now get the Rage of Demons storyline free of charge (thanks to Jeremy for the scoop).
Monte Cook Games has just launched another Kickstarter! This one's for the Into the Ninth World series of sourcebooks for Numenera, which includes Into the Night, Into the Deep, and Into the Outside - supplements covering outer space, under the sea, and interdimensional realms, respectively. The series was announced just last week at Gen Con.
I just wanted to share a general exasperated grumble at the arduous nature of the research I'm currently doing. I've been locating stats and specs on a range of iconic vehicles over the last 60 years or so. I'm only halfway through - lots of vehicle types to do yet. Some info is easy to find, but for older vehicles I sometimes spend ages trying to track down the 0-60 of a 1952 motorbike or the weight of a 1970s tractor trailer. Most of the info will just be fluff text anyway -- I'm distilling the figures down into a few simple stats. Finding the original price of older vehicles? Nigh impossible! It's easy to find the cost of new vehicles. It's also easy to find the cost of used vehicles. But the cost of a specific new vehicle in 1979? That's a frustrating task!
Exclusive to EN World TRAILseeker patrons. Expand Pathfinder's Handle Animal rules! This article presents racial affinities for different animals, and the ways in which different types of creaure respond to domestication. Additionally, author Carl Cramér includes a new regional trait and the Expert Trainer feat to round out any animal trainer's resume! Illustrated by Jacob Blackmon.
The long dispute between Hasbro and Sweetpea Entertainment has come to and end, opening the door for a brand new Dungeons & Dragons movie! The deal between Warner Bros, Hasbro, and Sweetpea, will see a movie set in the Forgotten Realms, written by Wrath of the Titans' David Leslie Johnson, and produced by The Lego Movie's Roy Lee.
This year's Gen Con set a new record, with 61,423 individual attendees (that's 197,695 turnstile). The annual growth since 2010 has been 9%, and it has more than doubled its attendance since then. Of course, Indianapolis hasn't doubled its number of hotels, so it's not all good news! Next year's convention moves back to August, starting on August 4th, 2016.
This month's edition of Unearthed Arcana from WotC's Dan Helmick takes on the topic of Modern Magic! Following on from an earlier column about d20 Modern items using 5E rules, this article "presents new rules for expanding the repertoire of spellcasting characters in a modern setting."
Onyx Path announced a new edition of Vampire: The Masquerade at Gen Con. This will be the game's 4th Edition, 18 years after the previous iteration. The game will feature updated rules, and an advanced metaplot. (thanks to Fabrício for the scoop).
New for EN5ider patrons! The Village of Drood is a small village bordering a dark wood, founded by a traveling wizard and ready to be plugged in to your campaign. The first in a series of three settlements, this article contains NPCs and plot hooks. By Mark Craddock; illustrated by Jacob Blackman.
With Occult Adventures just out, Paizo has just announced August 2016's new hardcover! Designed to work alongside the Strange Aeons adventure path, Horror Adventures includes madness and corruption, Lovecraftian horror, werewolves, possession, and more!
Check out this selection of images directly from the upcoming Rage of Demons storyline. The following images are of postcards available at Gen Con. All eight demons described, in a storyline WotC's Mike Mearls describes as "So what's Rage of Demons about? Imagine of Cthulhu woke up in the Underdark and there were eight of him." Meet Yeenoghu, Demogorgon, Zuggtmoy, Baphomet, Graz'zt, Orcus, Juiblex, and Fraz-Urb'luu!
Tonight in the Union Station Grand Hall, Indianapolis, the 2015 Gen Con EN World RPG Awards ceremony took place - and the winners were announced! Hosted by Mike Selinker, with guest presenters including Amanda Valentine, John Adamus, Kevin Kulp, and Matt McElroy, the ENnies this year were sponsored by DriveThruRPG and Campaign Coins.

Put the players within spitting distance of the fall of House Atreides and the rise of Muad’Dib.
For its first book of D&D's 50th anniversary year, Wizards is going big with a multiverse-spanning, multiverse-threatening adventure where players will face off against one of the game’s most legendary villains.
A great monster book on its own but also useful as a supplemental guide to pre-existing fantasy worlds.
