First Post
Driving down the night time highway at a steady 65 MPH (legal speed limit), momentary glimpse of deer, with horns, jumping into lane to my left. Slam on breaks.
BAAAMMM!!!
Headlights gone.
Grill gone.
Front left quarter panel curled and pushed back.
Left blinker gone.
Bumper seriously bent.
Driver (me) and passenger (daughter, Titania) are fine.
Deer, dead. Very dead. One horn missing and gelatinous looking rib cage area kind of dead.
Funny moment.
Still breaking the car to a stop, notice deer sliding along highway, keeping up with me for a second or two until it stops sliding.
Good news.
We weren't hurt, radiator is intact. Engine runs fine. Van will be driveable, in day time, once I bang the quarter panel a little further forward so it doesn't rub on the tire when I make right hand turns. Left turn and straight ahead is fine.
I know this because officer was cool enough to drive us home leading the way, since our head lights were gone.
Tomorrow I call insurance company and find out what they say.
