Highest Level 30 Rogue Damage...

weem

First Post
Has anyone looked for the best/max damage output in one round from a level 30 Rogue by chance?

Not counting magic gear at all, (only powers/feats/skills and any available non-magical weapon) - also, we aren't worried about stats or actual damage numbers... we're looking more for the highest number of damage dice and sneak attack dice that could be made in one round for a level 30 Rogue.

Maybe it's been posted somewhere and I could be linked to it, or maybe it could be discussed here if not? We are looking things over now and I thought I would post here to see while we are at it.

We are all in the low levels in the game I play in, as are the players in my campaign, so this is simply curiosity, not planning.

Thanks,

To give you a quick example, my brother was explaining a way he saw to put 23d8 on a single target in one round - I don't know if that sounds high, low or average - I don't really look much into the epic tier - but it just got me curious what the pro number crunchers here have to say about it ;)

Let's see....

Assassin's point with rapier... that's 7d8+10d8 for 17d8...

Then action point for Ghost on the Wind for 6d8 more... that's 23d8.

Yep. Pretty easy at epic tier.

Ahh nm, I see - it doubles sneak attack so you took it from 5 to 10, but it could essentially be 6d8 to 12d8 (taking the feat that adds a dice, therefor going from 5 to 6)

Assuming a brutal scoundrel rogue with a 28 Dex and 22 Str...

...and NO magic items...

...NO prior set-up from a previous round...

...NO buffs or assistance from any other characters...

...NO criticals, the foe NOT becoming bloodied, and NO other special triggering circumstances...

...he can do 51d8 + 76 plus ongoing 17 to one target.

NOT counting the numerous situational damage bonuses which could apply.

All that requires is a full round of attacks against a target which the rogue is ambushing from stealth, the use of an action point, and the use of two daily powers and one encounter power.

* The character must be a Drow Rogue with the Dread Fang paragon path and the Perfect Assassin epic destiny.

* He must have the feats Brutal Wound, Slaying Action, Bleeding Backstab, Martial Mastery, Backstabber, Two-Weapon Fighting, Weapon Proficiency Rapier, and Weapon Focus.

* He must have and use the powers Assassin's Point, Rogue's Resurgence, and Skirmishing Strike (which he uses twice).

That's with absolutely no setup, help from party members, special circumstances or environment, critical hits, other conditional feats/powers being triggered, or magic items at all. It's also not even considering any multiclassing possibilities.

With those added factors, the damage output for a round could be significantly higher.

I'm not claiming that this is the highest damage possible given the parameters, I'm sure that someone more thorough than I could find ways to bump it up a bit.

But this is doable every day with nothing but a loincloth and a couple of cheap mundane weapons, alone, with no prior setup beyond hiding and then jumping someone. So, not bad!

51d8 + 76 plus ongoing 17 . . . unassisted by magic, allies, or preparation.

Now THAT'S what I call an assassin!
