I6: Ravenloft (adapted to 3.x) - OOC Thread - CALLING MY PLAYERS!

Fenris, I'm guessing from Queenie's post that she is your partner in crime? I've not ever roleplayed with her, but I've done a lot with you, and I know you are a great roleplayer, so of course you two would be welcome to slots in this game.

Yes, that's me. We've ended up in a few games together recently :)

I play mostly on CM. I recently started a game with Deuce Traveller here on ENW and it's my first game here but I'm really enjoying it.

Making a character is always a little bit of a chore for me and it takes some time for me to sort out where I want to go with it. I don't have a concept in mind but I usually stick with basics. Once you post what the acceptable sources are I will try to peruse for anything interesting that would fit the setting.

I was a little iffy on the character death thing because I don't like having to make a new character every week but you've explained what you meant by it and I'm fine with that. I have a fun story I could tell about playing a character with let's say different motives than the rest of the party. That is some great, fun roleplaying, probably my most favorite table experience ever. :)

How many posts a day / week do you require? I am around quite frequently actually but it's good to know what's expected.

Well it is nice to meet you Queenie! :)

PHB, DMG, MM1, MM2, MM3, PHB2, DMG2, CW, CA, CAdv, CD, CM, ToB: Bo9S and obviously anything in the SRD. I'm fairly good about allowing things in sources I don't have, as long as I get a chance to review them first.

Also, as stated, I do have some houserules I will be implementing for this game that will affect character creation. I'm going to get those posted this weekend.

Death is a little bit more of a hassle in my homebrew than in standard D&D worlds, too. I'll get those rules posted with the rest of my houserules. I like death to be something that is feared in my games, not something that is a minor speedbump to a character.

In the other two PBP games I'm running here, so far the only deaths in over three years have been characters whose players have disappeared. There have certainly been a few close calls, but that is it. I don't ever seek PC death, but some of that is up to the dice, and some of it up to the player too. If you have a wizard that keeps jumping into melee to stab things with his dagger, sooner or later he is going to die. :)

I'm hoping for 4-5 posts a week from my players. That gives a little leeway, but still allows for a semi-fast PBP game. As a DM I am usually good about posting at least that much, though it certainly depends on the circumstances.

OK, since you don’t have the Ravenloft material. I’ll go on the core and the expansions. I haven’t seen Libris Mortis or Races of (density, wild,...) books, Stormwrack, sandstorm... what about those books?

Nope, I don't have those either. You can always send me your copies though! ;)

If there is something you want from them, just send me the details and I'll likely approve it. If it is found at Crystal Keep, I'll likely allow that as well.

As I said, I don't usually get too crazy with character classes, I want to feel comfortable with what I am playing.

How do you feel about balanced parties? Would you like us to work together to make on or will you work around the characters we choose?

Excellent! FYI I will be away for Mother's Day weekend so after tomorrow won't be able to check in until Sunday night / Monday.

Understood and agreed that it gives a game a little something more when there are real consequences. I just know some GM's who enjoy killing characters and try to and that makes me nervous so I'm glad you clarified that for me.

Sounds good. I have no problem posting once or even twice a day most days. A lot of times I am itching for the game to hurry up!

BTW, I am thinking of trying a duskblade. I think it might be a bit stronger than the core classes, though. That might be OK especially if everyone else uses 'supplements' too ;)

I've got no problem with the duskblade. In many ways the are the iconic fighter/wizards. I've not found them to be too overpowered compared to core classes; well, maybe compared to the fighter. :) Of course, one of my house rules is that a fighter gets a feat every level, so that helps some.

I prefer fairly balanced parties. While I don't have a problem with "character optimization" (I mean, you want a PC that is good at what they do right?), I'm not a fan of full-on powergaming. A character shouldn't be good at everything; what is the point of having companions if you can do it all yourself?

Understood. Just means I should pay more attention to what classes everyone else chooses. My first instinct is a cleric, I have never really played one before, not for an extended period of time. But I'll wait for your homebrew stuff that's coming soon to decide for sure.
