I6: Ravenloft (adapted to 3.x) - OOC Thread - CALLING MY PLAYERS!

Aye - Damn you and your 4E, Renau1g!!

That being said, I HAVE been pondering giving it a try, if only to see what I can do with the 4e warlock at higher level. I am a big warlock fanboy..

Rhun - I second (er.. third) the question re: Ability generation, and also wish to ask: can Asarandi armour also be mithril? (Ie is it a style of armour creation, or a special material)

As far as Money, so at 6th level we would start with 13,000 SILVER, and a +1 weapon(for example) would cost 2,300 Silver(+base weapon).. correct?

32 point buy for ability scores.

Starting wealth is standard for 6th level PCs. Not sure what that is off the top of my head. If someone could post, that's great. If not, I'll let you know tonight when I get home and can look it up in my DMG.

I’ll go on Tiefling Evoker. His mother was a witch that made a pact with Fraz-Urb'luu, the demon prince of Deception and he made her impregnate using one of his servants. For that, she was placed on the stake and was burned 10 years after it was revealed by the local villagers. #Name of character# fled and gathered power of evocation during the years and finally unleashed his destructive power upon the villagers with revenge. The village is situated in the land where castle Ravenloft lies. (maybe you can rule that the vampire Strahd decided to do a witch hunt back then). Knowing that the master of the land is the one who commanded the witch hunt, it is time to revenge the master.

Right now, he is CN, but I intent to follow the mother. So the prestige class “Acolyte of the skin” could be the character’s next step.

Sounds like a great PC concept. Based on having roleplayed a lot with you, I'm sure you can handle the challenge of RPing a Chaotic Neutral character. I've notice that some players have difficulty with that particular alignment.

In my homebrew, the County of Barovia lies within the boundaries of what was once the Kingdom of Coris. It is now referred to simply as Coris, or as the Sundered Realm. Sometime in the past, the old king went mad and started making strange declarations and requests of his nobility and populace. There was an insurrection, and it shattered the kingdom. Now the area is composed of dozens of petty states, each concerned mainly with their own affairs, and to hell with the others.

Barovia is a petty state within the lands of Coris, in a heavily forested valley located in the Sentinel Peaks.

the Cocky, casual dual-wielder.

He's the duelist type, never seems like he's really trying... *parry parry parry* "Oh come on, are you even TRYING to hit me?"

He'd have a lot of defensive feats, and his default mode would be Fighting defensively + Combat Expertise, so he'd have a real high AC but real low attack bonus - hence it seems like he's never trying. he just stands there dodging/blocking your attacks... but when he DOES start trying.. *Evil Grin*

I have one feat to request - I'm not sure if I'll have room for it as this is a feat-intensive character, but I'm looking for ways to improve his offense, so...
Deadly Defense Is a feat from Complete Scoundrel. It gives you +1d6 dmg with a light weapon when fighting defensively.

Sounds good, very much along the lines of a PC I am currently playing in another game. I will allow Deadly Defense...it seems well balanced to me.

Hmm, going with the deadly defense, what's your take on the Quarterstaff? Are both sides considered light, or should I wield an actual pair of weapons? I'd like the quarterstaff b/c they're just plain cooler, but a pair of short swords would probably be more effective.

Rhun,

See attached for the portion of Dragon Magic relating to the Dragonfire Adept, essentially it's very similar to a Warlock (actually even sharing some of the invocations with it), but with some neat little abilities and a draconic flavour.

Let me know your thoughts :)

It seems like a pretty strong PC class, but not overpowered. My one caution would be this: Much of Ravenloft happens within the confines of the castle, and it may limit how often you can employ your breath weapon. Or at least, you'll have to take the other PC's positions into account.

So, consider this approved. However (since I have never seen one in play), if it proves too powerful during the game, we may need to make some adjustments. You okay with that?

As the player of a PC he uses the subpar quarterstaff as a weapon, I would allow you to treat both sides of the weapon as light, with one provisions: the quarterstaff would NOT count as a light weapon for purposes of grappling.

You'd actually be surprised how well a quarterstaff can be used in a grapple, but I'm not gonna argue with you. :D

BTW, did you catch my question about Mithril Asarandi armour? I doubt I'll be able to afford it, but something to think about.

As to Renau1g's dragonfire adept's breath weapon, IIRC they have an invocation they can take which gives any creature it's cast upon immunity to the adept's breath weapon (But not similar breath weapons) for just the problems you brought up.

You're right, I've never tried using one when somebody is trying to wrestle me to the ground. :)

Technically yes, it could be since it is a style. Just like you could have Mithril Koradian Plate. I'm just trying to think of how overly powerful that would be. :)

Well then, that would solve it if that exists. :)
