[sblock=OOC]So who's up? Or should I say "Who's on First?" :D[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Even if the player characters discuss abilities and tactics, they may not agree on the latter. The player characters will do what they will.[/sblock]

[sblock=CBN]Surely! But talking is better than not . . .[/sblock]

*flick* and a quick gesture, and a shadow forms and settles over the Tiefling even as he is outlined in coruscating purple flames.

As the Tiefling is limned in Feall's Darkfire, the Drow takes a quick step toward River and the sisters. Gripping his falchion in one hand he reaches toward them with the other, his long fingers twisting into claws. Shadows gather around his arm and fly toward one of the sisters, grabbing at her throat. But something warns the girl of her danger and she deftly slips the shadow's grasp. The young Assassin shakes his head and again reaches for the girl . . . and this time the shadowy claw closes around her throat! Feall clenches his fist and jerks his arm to his side. The girl, intent on completing her attack against River instead finds herself wrenched to the side of the of the ruthless Assassin!

At the insistence of the Great Light, Lan ignores the stinging wound of the tiefling and continues his assault against his gods' chosen enemy, the Tentacles. Pointing his sword towards the tentacles, he sends divine energy into his challenging words.

"Creature of shadow, face your true enemy!"

The tentacles obey Lanharaths' challenging command and slinks it's way down the stairs towards him. As it nears the Kalashtar, bright light engulfs the creature and burns it with divine radiance.

"We will free you from Khyber's influence." tells River as he shifts. He then summon a burst of living energy that burst over all the pit and more with a powerful conviction.

Keep them alive asks River to both Kalashtar in there minds. The Flame are still with them, and hinder there weapons so we can vanquish them. As long there god is with them and helping us, we can hope to bring them back into the light, not like the hobgoblins we meet last time.

[sblock=ooc]
Added 1 for the tentacles that are now in range vs Tentacles (1d20 8=23) hits them too

[sblock=ooc]
*Every enemy have -2 to defences and they are prone if they are hit by any attack. That last until the end of my next turn.

I've created a room for this game under Moonwatch. Please roll dice there until IC is back up. Not the best, but better than nothing. Just a reminder for Valahad and Lan, I don't believe a light source has been created yet, so you should treat all other creatures as having concealment from you (-2 to hit)

Online Dice Roller

Illumination - currently is low-light as the sun's not out. Anyone without low-light (or dark) vision treats others as having concealment. (Other features are below)

[sblock=OOC] I know you guys have already dropped the issue, CBN and KD, but just to clarify something (since I was not on this weekend and wasn't privy to the conversation). When Lan goes nova, we're not talking about a "dozen" extra damage. We're talking about an additional 9 damage per ally next to the badguy. With a group of 5 PCs, we're talking about the possibility of having an EXTRA (not total) 36 damage. So we're not talking about a dozen extra damage, we're talking about THREE dozen extra damage. Something that done correctly, COULD potentially wipe out that creature.

Now, with that said, I am CERTAINLY not going to criticize how you played Sheeva. She needed to save her skin in that situation (I know that I personally would not just sit there while a weird tentacle creature grabbed me in the hopes that someone else would save me). So no problem with what you had your character do. It's just unfortunate that I didn't get the chance to pull off my super nova :p I will not be keeping Lan around after this battle (growing very weary of the Avenger class... Just doesn't suit me. And it's not just this battle that has made me feel this way. It's been in my mind since Lan's first battle). So group dynamics will be changing again. Though it should be far easier with my new character, as he won't be relying on anyone else (big mistake in class design now that I see it... or at least it's a bad idea on MY part for playing someone in PbP that requires the direct assistance of other PCs and their willingness to endanger themselves, lol).

Anywho, back to the game... and great RP KD! [/sblock]

Actually, you could do 12 extra points of damage per ally (i.e. 3 for Strength of Many + Censure of Unity, 6 for Fury's Advance + Strength of Many + Censure of Unity, 3 for AP any attack + Strength of Many + Censure of Unity). Course, they all have to hit, especially Strength of Many, for that to work and it uses up a Daily and an AP.

In this case though, normally 27 extra points (+Fury's Advance damage) if both attacks hit. I wasn't thinking of you using a Daily to do this, hence, the reason I said 10 to 15 over a normal attack (i.e. normal attack plus Fury's Advance is about 15 over a normal attack).

Btw, if you stop playing Lan, that'll really suck. He was just starting to become a good foil for Sheeva. There goes months of good future roleplaying out the window. ;)

To me, it's not the combat capabilities of a PC that make it great or not. As long as the PC can do decent stuff in combat is enough. I think you should give Lan a few more encounters now that the two other new players know about Lan's damage requirements. You'd be surprised what we can accomplish together with just a little bit more communication.

[sblock=OOC]I second this - Most of Feall's attacks don't require him to be adjacent to his foe, so in many situations he can be adjacent to Lan's foe and strike at someone else if need be.

Of course, if he's not fun for you to play that's another story altogether.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC] Well, I've been thinking about switching out Lan for a while now, I just didn't want to waist the experience I had earned and start all over at 3750 XP. I was just waiting until we hit level 5 before I switched. Much like Renau1g, I find that I am not liking the class mechanics. I'm more of a "roll" player, I'll admit to that much, but I do like the way that Lan has interacted with Sheeva. I tried to think of a good way to just change class for Lan, but unfortunately, I have already used up Lan's "redo" on class features, etc, when I changed him over from Censure of Pursuit to Censure of Unity. I didn't like the Pursuit build because the bonuses that the feature grants are simply too hard to come by and rely on the DM moving the enemy. I thought that switching over to the Censure of Unity would be better for Lan (since I saw him as more leadery anyway), but alas, the last few battles have shown me that even that will not be enough. There just will not be enough situations where my Oath of Enmity is adjacent to all of my allies (or even just adjacent to more than 1 of my ally for that matter).

I had thought about switching him over to a Longbow Ranger...to keep with his "elite scout" theme, but without a complete retire and rebuild I can't do that. And if I am going to be essentially creating a new character from scratch anyway, I may as well play something that intrigues me now, rather than something that intrigued me months ago, but has disappointed me thoroughly.

Because of this, I will be bringing in a new character after this current battle is over with. Sorry for the loss of future RP with Lan, but there will be plenty more to come with my new character. I'm sure that my new character and Sheeva will get along just as well as she and Lan have :p [/sblock]

Valahad turns his head towards Sheeva in frustration. The kalashtar speaks in the mind of Feall. "Don't worry, these are our enemies. I could use a flank here, if you don't mind."

"Pok! Some light!"

"You lie. Khyber's taint has overtaken your mind. The Age turns, be purified!" Striking out at Scar, the kalashtar feints low and spins, aiming a spinning backhand slice at the warriors bicep.

*Consider it done Valahad.* Pok lights up Valahad's sword, shining bright light floods the pit. The gnome slips away from the battle, and begins circling around to flank.

[sblock=OOC]

Minor cast Light on Valahad's Sword and that sword now sheds bright light. The light fills the target’s square and all squares within 4 squares of it. The light lasts for 5 minutes. Putting out the light is a free action for Pok.

move, shift to D13 (if that is still considered difficult terrain, then move to D13->D14->E15->F15)

Standard move to H15 (if D13 was difficult terrain, move to I14)
