Is there going to be more added to the adventure tools?

and what?

The monster builder is wicked, but it looks like there's space for four more buttons on the intro screen there... are those just graphical or are there plans for them?

I'd like:

1. an adventure and campaign structure/template to publish pro looking modules

2 + 3?. a skill challenge and trap library/template similar to the monster builder (and compendium)

4. a dungeon maker using the tiles (their freaking tiles should be featured in more product period)

A world map making tool would be cool too.

Also is there a way to export your custom monsters and swap them with people?

I have not looked too hard on the wotc site... but I couldn't find any info.

Nothing is announced yet. If I was going to hazard a guess?

- Remote gaming table, for long distance games
- Skill challenge builder
- Trap builder
- Map builder

I know that WoTC is planning more tools for each of those empty circles, and I think one is an encounter builder.. but I cannot confirm.

As to exporting custom monsters.. yes. Up at the top of the moster list are two buttons for importing xml and exporting xml... see the attached as a sample exported custom monster. You should be able to save that file, unzip it, and then import into your version.

More details should eventually be posted on the WoTC Page here.. but not yet!

Wow, thanks!

I'm running 3rd level campaign right now, I'll actually use your guy... let you know if he kills somebody.

I deleted your xml file and your monster's still in my builder, the program just saves a copy of it somewhere?

I can just export my monsters in the same way eh?

Why did you zip it? it's pretty darn small allready...

The forum does not accept any attachment extension. ;)

I believe we won't be seeing a dungeon tile map making tool in adventure tools, simply because it would end up killing their printed products. But I expect a map makign tool of some kind.

A skill challenge and trap making tool is simply a must as well.

I am not sure they would delve into the virtual table, though it would probbaly give them more players signing D&DI.

Anyone know where the program stores copies of the monster data? I tried to move a copy of the whole program to my work computer (as WoTC site is blocked) and the program will run but no monsters come up to play with....

I am not sure you can move it to another computer, the entire data should be stored in the data folder, but given how the D&DI subscription works I would be very surprised if we could make the program work without running the install.

Thus far my attempts to get it to work make this seem to be the case, but I thought I would ask.

The official stance is "we're working on more Tools but won't announce anything until a new Tool is ready to be released as Beta."

They've got somewhat burned by lay-offs and the harsh reactions to removing the VTT from the DDI web site.

As a side note, the D&D4e combat tracker tool can import both Character files and monster files (From CB and MT, respectively), allowing you to track initiative, damage, healing, effects, and power usage (including auto-rolling recharge effects for monsters). It also calculates xp for you, along with giving a heads up on what the encounter level is built for, including representing group size (4, 5, and 6 players).

when an encounter finishes, you can remove the monsters and import a saved encounter for the next combat. It's a really useful tool. Any monster or PC information can be edited once imported, as well, and it saves the library you create for future use.

It's free, which is a nice boost, as well.
