"Just what we were hired to do. We brought her here, and turned her over to the fellow that hired us."
[sblock=OOC]Whew. I was half-convinced we'd been tricked into attacking some harmless warehouse.[/sblock]"This fellow tells you to kidnap a little girl, an' you do it? Mus' be quite a man. Think I'd like to meet 'im." Speaker doesn't seem to have noticed, but she hasn't sheathed her ritual dagger, and it's still dripping with the blood of the slain mercenary.

"I take the jobs that pay," he mutters. "This is just business." He looks wryly at his fallen comrades. "And not a good deal either."

Abigail concentrates for a moment, before Azuras appears in a ball of flame. Still smoking, the Dragonling gestures down to its chest, as if to gesture "I got stabbed", before glaring reproachfully at Abigal.

Abigail scowls at the Dragonling, and says "Yeah? Well I got a bit cut up, too. Look at this... I don't know if I can walk, Azzie."

The Dragonling begins to flutter around, and then stops and spreads out its wings. Abigail pauses for a second, and scowls. "Are you serious?"

The dragonling nods its head vigorously.

"Don't take this the wrong way, but 'cleansing fire' does not sound like much fun."

The dragonling lets out an angry screech, and blows a small puff of flame at Abigail, as if to make a point. Abigail raises her hand, placatingly. "Fine, fine. Can I at least bite down on something?"

A moment later, and Abigail has put one of her dagger sheaths in her mouth, and is busily heating dagger over a small patch of flame in her other hand. When the blade gets iron red, Abigail lifts up her studded leather, baring the open wound above her belly, and presses the flat of the blade against it - instantly cauterizing the wound. She lets out a whimper, and long tears run down her cheek. A moment later, the wound seems to heal a bit, and mostly closes up.

Exhausted, Abigail drops the dagger and lets the sheath fall out of her mouth, resting up against the crate. Covered in sweat, she lets out a few gasps of breath and then weakly gets to her feet.

"That's gonna leave a mark..." she says, before hobbling over to Eraden.

Upon the mercenaries last words, abigail scowls. "You'll pardon us if we don't feel too bad you failed. If I were you, I'd just be glad we didn't decide to run you through. I'm kind of wondering why we're not, truth be told. Why aren't we killing these scumbags, Sir Blue?"

Without thinking, Abigail gently kicks away the snout of Virgil, who has begun to sniff one of the dead bodies hungrily.

"No doubt," Alastair says with a grunt as he pulls himself from the fish pile. "I think we'd all like to meet him. And I think you're going to tell us how to find him."

"Unless of course, you'd like to stare upon the face of Zhudun again," says Alastair, staring the mercenary straight in the eye.

"We handed her off in here," the mercenary says nervously. "I've never seen beyond the next room. There's a ramp there going down and a door below." He looks at the angry faces of the party. "I don't know what's down there. What are you going to do to us?"

"You kidnapped a little girl, and gave her over to a man whose purpose you know not'in' of. Tell me, child: what do you deserve?"

Abigail sits up, with the bandage on her chest. "Thanks. Oo.... that's gonna leave a mark."

[sblock=rest]
At this time I use a healing surge as part of a short rest.

"Thanks be to the gods but I'm glad to have you back." Eraden says as he watches her remake her dragonling from a puff of flame. Across the room he hears the tone of the conversation begin to darken and makes his way over.

"You kidnapped a little girl, and gave her over to a man whose purpose you know not'in' of. Tell me, child: what do you deserve?"

Eraden can see a look of concern start to take form on the leader's face. Eraden looks at the bodies of his allies, and possibly even friends on the floor and thinks this is not justice, it is murder and revenge.
"I don't think it his place, nor ours to judge him here Speaker. Let his fate be deemed by the gods and let his loss here today serve to place him on a better path." Eraden takes the staff from his back and throws it on the ground. "Leave your weapons here but take your wounded. I believe this to be a fair trade is it not? But before you go, is there nothing more you can tell us of the man that hired you?"

[sblock=ooc]
Ben let me know if I need to roll a new diplomacy check or if the one I rolled before is still valid. Also, Eraden would like to let them go but I personally could care less what happens to them. Just remember if you choose to fight them if they throw down their weapons Eraden will not be happy with your character. This is the bane of playing as lawful good :erm:.

The mercenary hangs his head. "Kill me if you feel you must," he says. "But let the rest go. I'm the one who took this job, they just work for me."

"I thank you on behalf of my people," the mercenary says. "Okay lads, drop 'em all. That includes the one in your boot, Snapper." The mercenary crew divests themselves of weapons quickly and efficiently, dropping swords and bows.

"As for old Hake, watch out for him. I don't know what he's up to. He was talking about a wedding and taking the girl to meet her betrothed. There was an old priest with him, although I didn't like the look of that one either. There were a couple of other fellows with them, and as they took the girl through the curtain, old Hake said something to the priest like 'let's not keep Gluplik waiting.' Don't know what he meant by that."

He piles up the weapons from his allies, both living and dead and shakes the unconscious archer. "Up and at 'em, Guppy. You managed to survive. Be sure to thank the fellow in the armor for not killing you."

As he helps the wounded man to his feet he says "As I said, watch out for Hake. He may dress like a merchant, but he's been practicing lately. Those daggers he's carrying aren't for show."
