Even Newer(er) Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

Not used to such camaraderie Vermitrax shrugs. "Suit yourselves then. Perhaps when you have seen what I have, you'll change your mind, or lose it. Alternatively you might start loving the adventurer's life." he pauses for a moment, as if feeling something strange in the air. "There is 'something' strange happening nearby, but I can't quite percieve what it is. My arcane repertoire is already spent, but you might go and investigate. Take this as your first chance to taste the life of an adventurer, you'll tell me how did you fare when you are back." encourages the mage. If he was to ally himself with these people, at least he had to test their temple before. There was indeed something happening somewhere outside, and perhaps he is sending them to their untimely end, but... Who cares?

OOC: Vermitrax is level 4, so out of adventure range. Sorry for the mastermind plotting/evilness

The Hanged Man's busy door is pressed into service again, this time for a rather ordinary looking chap of a young age. His unkept dark hair blows through behind him as he scuttles over to the bar, he has a look that says he is unsure if he should be here ( - ooc - awaiting character approval - ) and tries his best, with a fair amount of success, to blend into the crowd.

A muscular halfling enters the room, pausing to give the assembled adventurers a stiff nod. "I greet you. I am Gellan, called Bonesaw, a hunter and warrior. May your ancestors walk with you all." He then strides to the bar to negotiate a meal from the innkeeper.

OOC: Level 5 (pending approval) barbarian ready for a new task!

The second newest patron, blends even further into the scenery when the seemingly boisterous and muscular halfling enters. Content to, for now, soak up his enviornment.

The barkeep saddles up infront of one of the newest patrons while cleaning a glass.

"Hey kid. Gotta introduce yourself. Dems da rules. We don't need no sneaks in here. Now can I git ya anything?"

OOC: There is a link to an adventure for new players above. Check it out and join if you wish. Welcome!

Jahred, having acknowledged the offerings from those in the tavern, seems to wait for more, but hearing nothing he calls to those who have pledged their swords, "My friends my situation is most grievous, come closer, and I will provide some details," He moves to an empty table, and waits for the others to gather around, "You see, the last two weeks in my city have been rife with scandal and dark omen. The spark that set this fire (and quite literally), the unveiling of an organized crime ring being run right under our noses.

"The ring was exposed by a group of talented souls hailing from this very tavern.

"We now know that this ring of thieves was to blame for several mysterious deaths, but only shortly after the gang's incarceration, several prominent individuals in the city have gone missing.

"The first two were our city's Master Armorer, and our city's most wealthy benefactor. The Master Armorer was a dwarf named Hankel Mast, whose craftsmanship was unequaled in all of Avenroc or Erkemhest for that matter. He left on business with the benefactor, a gentleman (though I dare not use that term now) named Lars Hallmaster. At the time of their departure, Sir Hallmaster was in good standing with the city, but in questioning the thieves, we learned that he was their mastermind.

"Shortly after this, several of the talented fellows who exposed the thieves disappeared. Mr. Mast's apprentice told us that, fearing for Mr. Mast's life, the talented fellows who exposed the thieves volunteered to go off on yet another quest to retrieve Mr. Mast and bring Sir Hallmaster to Justice.

"Shortly after this, the most respected professor and Headmaster of our university, Amatalystan Shea Aramista, has disappeared, without a warning. He communicated with no one about traveling plans, and left no messages. The last time anyone had seen him was the day the fellows from this tavern disappeared, supposedly to look for Mr. Mast.

"So you see how these events seem like more than coincidences,"
He looks from face to face at the table to gauge the group's understanding, "We will give you whatever resources you need to solve this mystery and save the city of Rioc Alair from its military, financial, and academic crisis." He pulls out two folded sheets of vellum from a pack on his belt. Unfolding the larger of the two sheets, he reveals that it is a map of a land foreign to the Transitive Isles.

"These are our lands,"
he begins as he spreads the map out on the table:[sblock=Large Map]

[/sblock]"The larger of the two continents is Erkemhest, here:[sblock=Location of Erkemhest]

[/sblock]"The smaller is our land of Avenroc:"[sblock=Location of Avenroc]

[/sblock]He then unfolds the smaller of the two maps,"This is a map of the cities around the Northbay of Avenroc, and the city of Rioc Alair is located here:[sblock=Location of Rioc Alair]

[/sblock]"Sir Hallmaster and Mr. Mast were supposedly headed for the City of Efil, located here:[sblock=Location of Efil]
PointingoutEfil-1.png
[/sblock]"We, unfortunately, have no idea where Professor Aramista was going., but we imagine it was related to Mr. Mast's and Sir Hallmaster's disappearances due to the close timing.

"These continents are several weeks journey from here by sea, but we know that the sea has secrets, one of which was able to cut the length of the journey considerably.

My ship is waiting for us in the harbor, shall we be off?"
OOC: Thanks for being patient, and joining me. I'm still hoping for a controller(Level 7-9), but if none are about, I'll start anyway. I'll have the adventure thread link some time tonight.
OOC: BTW: My profile colors went all whacko. Am I alone here, or is this happening with everybody?

OOC: I had that problem too. Try going into settings in your profile and setting the default forum skin to black :)

With no cow forthcoming Sharpe decides to take matters into his own hands. After covering the sleeping dragon with a large tablecloth, he heads out of the tavern to look for a eatable bovine for "his" dragon.

Soon after a young dragonborn walks in. Max and, um, Ms. Mab and um everyone! he shouts, walking over to the table. I apologize for my lateness, I saw a dragon fly overhead and was attempting to locate the beast to challenge the foul creature to a duel. So far it has evaded my every attempt!

What's is this? A quest?!
Draglin says walking over and hearing the man's tale. Never fear sir! Sir Draglin of Draconia is here and shall find those people, whatever their names were! he says. Draglin did not have a long attention span.
