D&D 5E So who played 5E D&D recently?

Howdy-

DM'ed a game today at our local meet up, Set in the Forgotten Realms and Waterdeep, the players came together on the streets of Waterdeep to try and subdue a Dwormorvore (A monster from Waterdeep City of splendors 3.5 book) this creature is a small construct that resembles a dragon and had escaped the Eltorchul Magical Academy . So now that the players succeeded in subdueing the construct, they are offered employment by the academy to investigate strange goings on beneath the Fairy Flagon Inn. And thus a once a month campaign is born. This is my own adventure design that will take the players from 3rd to 20th level.

I dont like the players meet mr mcguffen in a Tavern trope, gotta get them together in a more imaginative way I think. And having an encounter in the middle of the street helps to that end. Plus the players were new to 5E and loved it. A few burps here and there but all in all 5E is going to be a happening thing here in these parts. Also note, we did not use feats, boy did that make life for me as a DM much easier. Oh, and I might have 3rd game to DM, life is good.

So, how did your 5E game go recently?

We ended our first megadungeon recently, and I am at work on our next one (this one starts with the players taking off in a pirate ship they captured).

Played Glitterdoom yesterday, it was tough for a party of mostly rogues and fighters, but probably more satisfying as a result.

I converted The Inn of Lost Heroes for Labyrinth Lord and slotted it in after they hit the road heading north in Hoard of the Dragon Queen (beginning of Episode 4).

Great time was had, with three characters limping away, marked for their cowardice and the fourth a level ahead of them for being willing to make the grand sacrifice in the end.

How did you like that adventure over all? I am thinking about buying it, the preview looks great.

And to answer the OP, I've been playing the last month in a roll20 game about 3 hr a week and it's been a blast. DM homebrew Ravenlofty world (based in an old MTG setting I believe).

I was travelling in Montreal, and I signed up to play a game of D&D at a local game shop. I wound up DM'ing instead when the scheduled DM was sick. I had an absolute blast running 'Tales Trees Tell', one of the D&D Expeditions.
