D&D 5E Yes, No, Warlord

Do I want a tactical warrior class which incentivizes and uses mental ability scores without outright spellcasting? Yes.
Do I want the 3e Marshal or 4e Warlord remade? No.

Say this in every warlord thread.

Still don't care; haven't seen anyone really convince me that a full-throated 20 level unique class with subclasses is needed. For me, the Battlemaster does the job well, maybe with a few new options.

Not sure how to vote because its a trick question. They already exist because we have Battlemasters, Valor Bards and feats that do a fine enough job.

If I vote 'no', does that mean I'd want those existing elements removed?

Either you're trying to incite something, or you simply didn't read. They don't exist as a class, which is what the poll asks. Nice try trying to discredit the poll though.

It can also be argued Battlemaster and Bards don't do enough. Commander's Strike definitely doesn't. The net benefit rarely outweighs losing both an attack and your bonus action.

I was hoping for an I-don't-really-care-but-if-you-must-please-just-don't-call-it-a-warlord option. I compromised and voted 'yes but not under that name' and now I feel dirty.

Speaking of discredited forum polls... How are you weeding out sockpuppet votes? How are you going to count all of those who don't care enough that they don't bother clicking on the thread at all?

I don't need help discrediting forum polls. They are always useless for anything other than finding out what a tiny contingent of forumites who frequent a tiny space on the interwebs think.

I also disagree that you are any kind of authority on what does or does not constitute "existing" and/or "enough". Or "balance" for that matter, since you seem to think you know better than the devs whether the recipient of Commander's Strike giving up their bonus action is good game design. Since I personally agree with the devs and think it is, does that mean I cancel out your vote on the matter?

You could always change your vote to "don't care."

But I do, insofar as I hate the idea of a class called 'warlord'. I do care that the game never incorporates that formulation of word and mechanic again. What I don't care about is the incorporation of the mechanic itself.

Speaking of the ranger, I'm very annoyed DnD doesn't properly represent them. None of them even come close to something for cooking food. What? That's a range? Oh. Well they still don't accurately represent a shed for animals. What do you mean that's a manger!?

A manger isn't a shed, it's a feed trough (as in the French, manger, 'to eat'). A manger filled with hay for horses to eat can serve as a handy makeshift crib, if you happen to be born in a barn.

While I agree with your point about people who don't even open the thread because they don't care, I do think it's worth asking the question of whether sockpuppet votes need to be "weeded out." Sockpuppert votes could be either for or against, depending on the inclinations of the poster creating the sockpuppet. It then becomes a question about whether support for a thing or hate for a thing is more likely to cause a poster to create a sockpuppet for voting purposes. I don't know the answer to that question. I don't even know if anyone has studied it.
