I read all of the PHB and DMG except for skimming through spells and magic items, though I have since probably read most of those. The MM I skimmed through as well, mainly reading the lore on my favorites or ones that caught my attention.

This is where we're at this morning with poll results. So far, "I've read all three" has the most votes, with "I've read none of the three in their entirety" in second place, and "I've only read the PHB" in third place. Interesting!

*Klaatu Barada N... Necktie... Neckturn... Nickel... It's an "N" word, it's definitely an "N" word! Klaatu... Barada... N... *cough cough* Okay then... that's it!
My Google-fu tells me it's "klaatu barada nikto." Though why on earth anyone would watch The Day the Earth Stood Still--unless we're talking about MST3K--is beyond me.

And, also: you like asterisks. Bet your brief footnotes are filled with hilarity, yes? The footnotes are always the best part of any well-written brief.

My money was on "I haven't read any of the three in their entirety" to nab first place.
That would most likely be the case if some of us that have answered for ourselves were to add answers for each of our group of players besides us, since I answered that I've read all 3 in full, but I've got 5 players around my table constantly and 3 less constant players who have read, at most, a few classes, some feats, and some spells, and only the art in the other books.

this is exactly why i have read them cover to cover

as for retaining all of the information, I must confess, I am fallible and have to continually refresh my memory with cursory rule referrencing
