A diamond containing a drop of blood.

This precious stone known as the Heart of the Empire was created by taking the last living drop of blood of the first Emperor of Tolenestria and saving it within a huge diamond. For over a thousand years the Emperors and Empresses of Tolenestria have worn the Heart as a pendant upon their breast. It is said that without it they would not have been as regal, commanding or impressive as they appeared to have been. Sadly the might of the Empire has begun to wane as the current Emperor never wears it and would rather spend time eating cherries and other rare fruits. Some say that the Heart is lost, others say it is merely waiting for one of the Emperor's grandchildren to take it up and the throne.
