Going from the profile Thedip is a he -that is something that bothers me from English, you could talk for hours without your speaker making their gender clear and you need to use gender to refer to people in the third person.-. This is a mystery to me too. From his ten posts I only see two quotes before this thread. And they were quite normal? no mentions, two exps. I don't really see where the problem is.

Maybe nobody was engaging him? Or was the gnolls thing?

I would say, sorry, I'll try to do better. Then I would laugh at things obviously not meant at jokes and if called on it, apologize that I can't tell when he is trying to make a joke and could he please notify the table when he is making a joke, perhaps a gesture. Maybe make a fist and move it up and down when ever you make a joke?
