Round 6

Delrak leaned against the wall, tightening his bandage enough so his guts wouldn’t fall out on the climb from the caves.

“Aye, let’s be gone,” he agreed, heading for where they had left the rope in the tight chute that would lead them above. “I’ve a mind t’ torch this place oot o’ spite before we gae, though.”

Miss Imogen retrieves arrows, and looks in the bottom of the pit that Qawasha was held in. She wonders to herself what she would have done, and if she would have been able to see the large awkward bird creature as an ally rather than a foe.

OOC: Investigation [roll0].

Again, the pit looks disgusting and she really doesn't step close.

I have so much to learn, she thinks, as she salvages what she can, picks up her bow, and heads to follow Harb.

As she passes Weed, she pulls out a bruised apple and offers it to him. As she rustles her hand though his fronds.

"Any other prisoner in here?" Rodrigo wondered aloud.

Ooc: have we had an sufficient looks see to be reasonably confident that this is not the case?

The sticks had a quick look around, finding nothing of interest. Qawasha said, "There are signs that others have been taken as I was, but no-one is left alive."

Satisfied that they had done all they could, the Sticks climbed back out the chute and returned to the Western side of the Ruins. To return to their friends, they would have to slip past the old woman through what little remained of the old city. As they approached, they saw a strange sight. One every crumbling wall and every collapsed roof there was a winged monkey. They watched as one flew from a wall to catch on to some hanging vines. It climbed until it was as high as it could get, and it looked around as if trying to spot something.

OOC: Would you like to hide?

Rodrigo scowled - what fresh hell was this? They needed rest so badly...

He waved at the others and pointed behind a wall, as he ducked for cover.

[roll0] (stealth check)

OOC 1: How big are these monkeys?
OOC 2: Are we doing group checks for stealth?

OOC: Apologies. I jumped forward a bit, glossing over the trip back around the ridge. There was time by the lookout (if you remember the trip to the nest, there is a bit where you can see a Ziggurat many miles off, past a river) where you could have had good sight-lines to watch out for Pterafolk while having a short rest. Qawasha would have let his bird go there, too. It's too wild to expect him to be able to train it, unfortunately. His Speak With Animals spell only lasts 10 minutes, too. He promised to help it find safety, not to be his follower or anything.

OOC: Short rest. 18hp + [roll0] = 22 hit points (2 dice left).

Miss Imogen found the return trip easier, if only because she was not anxious about Quawasha. She was wrong to blame herself for letting him get captured, but there it was. Something for which she would have been scolded back at school, and those memories never lie far below the surface of a well-brought-up young lady, after all.

The group was clearly tired, however. And they were jumpy. No longer feeling bound by the leather armour she had worn for so long since coming to this sweltering jungle, she found herself cool and comfortable as she travelled, refreshed by the cool breeze that seemed to blow just for her. And now she could enjoy it.

She was thinking of the feeling of a morning frost, which she would see on her windows in the morning at school, when the monkey suddenly appeared.

She dropped, crouching in the tall grass, her knees bent. But she was still so tired.

OOC: Stealth [roll1].

OOC: The short rest means that Harb can apply his healing again to some of us - something sorely needed! [MENTION=6865745]gargoyleking[/MENTION] how much does it heal?

Rodrigo was faintly disappointed to see the giant bird go - it could have been a useful ally - but still, the fact that the druid had managed to convince it not to be hostile was remarkable. One more foe could have done them in. The short rest and Harb's ministrations had restored him, and when he saw the monkeys, he felt a tinge of irritation, but also calm. It was just another day in Chult!

OOC: keep the stealth roll from above of course!

[roll0] HP from short rest, + whatever Harb can dish out with his healing techniques.
