I keep thinking that they should have stopped at one. It's the closest thing to a perfect mass market movie I've seen, so it could only go down from there (and in my estimation, they did).

I don't think this movie will do that well.
1. The story was completed.
2. Pop culture retrospectives on part ,2 and 3 are not very good. The franchise isn't that strong.
3. Reboot fatigue.

The Matrix trilogy hasn't aged that well. The first is still a good movie, but oh-so 90s/Gen-X/White Wolf. I have a tinge of generational embarassment just thinking about it.
I'm not sure that the Dream of the 90s is alive enough (outside of Portland, at least) for this to be a success, but you never know.
