As long as i get to be the frog
I have found, relatively early on, that 5e seems to be the worst edition in trying to apply white room theorycrafting to actual play. It just isn't reliable
Maybe your just not very good at analysis.

It's literally my day job. Of which I'm very good at it. SMH...
Your day job is analyzing D&d?
It seems to be his way in every thread I've seen.My day job is analysis. Don't be deliberately obtuse

I dont assume champions are sufficiently balanced. I know from experience that the fighter class is chosen a lot, plays well enough to meet expectations of most players who chose it and that in play as GM I have more than enough base class features to hang key moments on that I can use its "class" every bit as much as others. This sounds fair enough - so why do you assume that champions are sufficiently balanced? It sounds like there's no evidence you would have for that stance either given your stated standard?
The BEST pretzels you can buy!Sounds like Pretzel Logic to me
Show up? Yes. Be noticed or acknowledged as such? Not necessarily. Perception can vary quite a bit.I mean, simply put, if a "class/sub-class combo" was extremely underpowered in any pillar, wouldn't you think it would likely show up in actual play
DM Empowerment. The game is just a starting point: what you're analyzing is not actually meant to be used by anyone. The you should be able to tell us what about 5e D&d makes it immune to analysis...
Yet, your white room non-play based number crunch excel sheets eont prove it to him either, or me, so isnt that also not a reasonable position to take to try and use as proof?Which means that anyone that sees an issue must waste their time playing something with an issue just to prove it to you (which it won't anyways).... nah... that don't make sense. It's not a reasonable position to hold.
