Oh I'm hardly an authority. If anyone did ask my advice I would say follow whatever type of exercise that inspires you to exercise.I think @BookBarbarian sounds like they're a better authority but I'm at risk of diabetes due to a surgery i had, and one of the best exercises I've been recommended is resistance training/ aka weight lifting.
By all accounts aerobic exercise is the best for reducing blood sugar levels overall, but I pretty much can't stand it.
But doing exercise that involve lifting and moving or carrying like, farmer's carry and stone loading and tossing sandbags makes me feel like a real life Barbarian

When it gets down to it, whatever gets you off the couch is the best form of exercise.
