Simple question, a staff with a sentient entity has Mage Hand as a no charge spell. can the Staff use the spell to move ?

I would totally allow that as a DM because it's freaking cool to think of a spectral hand carrying a staff and floating around places like a dungeon by itself....

mage hand is great to move the staff around. The hand will never be more than 30' from the caster since the caster is the staff. Presumably the staff doesn't weigh more than 10 lbs too.

I think that is a great use of mage hand by the staff.

Keep in mind/remember that the DM is in control of the item, not the player. So the player could ask the staff to carry itself around and go somewhere, but it's up to the staff if it does it or not!
